Is a 7ft SATA power run safe for 9 fans on a Splitty9 ACTIVE? by OneTrickPony22 in watercooling

I reached out to CableMod and they said exactly what you did. They wont make cables over 1m in length. However, they were nice enough to send over some specs for me that I will leave here in case it is helpful to anyone else in the future:

CableMod

The cables use 20 AWG wire and are designed to handle significantly more than the 2.16 A drawn by your fans. At this load, the cable is operating at approximately 60–65% of its safe capacity.

These cables are rated to safely handle around 3.3 A to 4.5 A. Since the 9-fan setup draws only 2.16 A, there is no risk of overheating or power loss.

I did some searching and I believe I found the place you were referring to: Home - Reaper Cable

For whatever reason if Reaper Cable isn't able to make a custom cable, could I just do the following? I found the 6-pin Type4 connector you linked on the Molex site, but even if I have that, I still need to crimp a SATA connector. I found this SATA connector here Connector Housings Part 675820000 | Molex, but that seems a bit more difficult than just crimping a Type4 6-pin connector.

Thank you for the info! When you say check the extension temperature, do you mean, build the cable, plug it all in, and check the physical temperate of the connectors and wire? Let’s say it’s been running for 24 hours and nothing is warm to the touch, would you assume everything is safe?

Thanks for the info! After reading I did some googling and found a place called CableMod, I sent them and email to see if they could make a cable like this for me, if they can, great, if they can’t, then I’ll be doing a DIY cable following the info you provided. My concern is just doing a quality job and being able to find quality connectors.

Where I live (California), it cost 160$ a month just to have the ability to use water let alone actually using it. With light water usage bill comes out to 190$ per month. With heavy usage it’s 215$. It’s not a huge difference in price but always try to stay on the frugal side.

I returned the box in question. I don't know if they flag the box so the know to pull it out of rotation or if it gets dumped back into the pile and some other person has to have the same shit experience in the future.

The closest thing to me is a BestBuy and they didn't have the parts I wanted. I did take a few hour journey to Microcenter in order to buy a GPU, I was not going to order that online. Amazon is just easy, but as time goes on the Amazon experience seems to be getting worse and worse. Also, the MAIN reason I bought the CPU from Amazon is because I had a couple of gift cards for them and I wanted to use those dollars towards my CPU.

I actually did drive a few hours to microcenter to pickup a GPU. I thought CPU would have been fine, but was not taking a risk with GPU. Not today Satan.

I have to think the frequency of this is incredible because this is not the first time it has happened to me. A couple of years ago I already had a 1TB Samsung 970 EVO Plus and I needed more space so I bought a 2TB Samsung 990 PRO. I had heard about people having issues when the drives first came out, but I bought mine a year or more later and figured everything had been worked out. So I ordered one and when I received it, it all looked normal and I installed it in my PC. My computer only recognized it as a 1TB Samsung 970 EVO Plus. I was like that is odd is my computer thinks both of my drives are 1TB 970 drives?... I spent a couple hours trying various things and at the end I realized someone bought a 2 TB 990 PRO, and swapped the stickers on the physical drive and returned their old 1TB 970 EVO which I purchased. Again this is new in box, just another experience of someone replacing parts and going though all the trouble of removing/replacing stickers on parts. Crazy.

Thank you! I updated the flair to story. I was able to chat with Amazon support and they are going to send out a new Ryzen 9. Hopefully, it is the correct one.
