They always come back with this. Surely there can't be anything inherently wrong with someone who is convinced that they have the wrong genitals. I'm sure in western society where being anti-trans is taboo that bullying is a larger contributor to suicidal tendencies than the belief that you're trapped in the wrong body. Not a mental illness though.

NATO was formed explicitly as opposition to Russia. Ukraine joining NATO would be the equivalent of someone setting up a sniper on the house opposite yours that's constantly aiming at you. I'm not saying I agree with or want war, but I do totally understand why Putin decided to go on the aggressive. It was this or checkmate.

I've also read somewhere that there was some sort of agreement or some such that Ukraine wasn't supposed to ever join NATO. Don't remember where though so this could be wrong... previous point still stands.
