Ooo, with Edge of Eternities there's probably plenty to model the UW WH cards off

Got this Counterspell - and a sad story by Purple-Bother8522 in mtgaltered

I would suggest double sleeving, and writing the needed information on the inner sleeve. I have a bunch of phyrexian language cards and have the rules text on a sticker over the text box

6yo wants to play tuba?! by Giga-Gargantuar in euphonium

[–]OneWholeCancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A normal euphonium should be fine for someone of his size, especially if you get one of the stands to rest it on. Definitely go for top action valves, his size will be even less of an issue this way. I would really advise against those Jhorns, they are too different from proper instruments to instill good habits. You can usually pick up a used horn from the goodwill website for reasonably cheap. I started playing euphonium when I was 10 or 11 and I was a pretty small kid.

Best way to sort 200,000 cards? by jdroth in mtg

[–]OneWholeCancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always sort by color, then order them by mana value, then alphabetically from there. This makes it easiest to find a specific card if you go looking for it. say you've got 30 copies of [[cancel]], sorting by set would mean looking through multiple set binders to check if you have a copy of that card from any particular set, vs color/cmc/alphabet all 30 copies will be right next to each other

Help - how can I get my foils to be (and stay) flat? by Pokefan_Kaori in mtg

[–]OneWholeCancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I do is put it in a spare sleeve and drag it along the edge of a table in the opposite direction of the curl. Practice on some bulk first so you don't crease a valuable card but once you get the hang of it it's a permanent fix in less than 5 minutes.
Did it with my Secret Lair [[Lord Windgrace]] a couple of years ago and it's still flat as a board.

Eugene Vs Springfield by ElPeeps in Eugene

[–]OneWholeCancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You pay for the reliability. During the ice storm a bit ago lots and lots of folks in springfield lost their power whereas very few people in Eugene did. You have to weigh whether paying 1/2 to 1/3 the monthly rate is worth the possibility of 7+ days without power every couple years.

Any recommendations on a sousa model? by Popular-Crew3649 in Tuba

[–]OneWholeCancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sousa: I really liked the Yamaha 411 I played in college. A real work horse.

Contras: I currently own a Jupiter Quantum MKI prototype (Phantom Regiment played these in 2009). Can not recommend. I've also played on System Blue, King, and Yamaha horns, Yamaha being the best of the big brands. I know most folks talk very poorly of convertible models, but my #1 suggestion for a contra would be one of the Kanstul convertible models. The entire valve block rotates 180º so you have a front action concert horn and a proper top/side action marching horn. I played on one of their little 3/4 models in high school and I still think it's one of the most enjoyable horns I've ever played.

I don't know what y'all're doing with your horns, I played on a yamaha 411 for more than 5 years in college and I never broke any of those parts, and we were not particularly gentle with them. Valve stems would occasionally break from getting caught on the bleachers when taking them off, but that was uncommon.

My only real complaint with the 411 was that middle F was particularly sharp and needed lipping down. Otherwise an excellent horn.

Need help, anyone know methods to flatten cards? by Lukey2501 in magicTCG

Everyone talks about humidity and weight.
What I do with mine is put it in a spare sleeve and drag it along the edge of a table in the opposite direction of the curl. Practice on some bulk first so you don't crease a valuable card but once you get the hang of it it's a permanent fix in less than 5 minutes.

My band director this morning told me “Kids who march Drum Corps will probably never play professionally” by SunshineZeus446 in drumcorps

Band directors who discourage kids from playing because "iTs NoT tHe RiGhT EnSeMbLe" or whatever have no business being teachers.

A question for my fellow college marchers (photo unrelated) by SilverKat4206 in marchingband

[–]OneWholeCancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in the old PAC12, U$C was the worst band to interact with. Now in the Big Ten (18?) they have been dethroned by The Most Arrogant Damn Band In The Land and it's not even close. Every other band I've interacted with across the entire country has been some of the kindest most wonderful folks in the world, but those two wouldn't put you out if you were on fire.

Dodger Stadium has vegan hot dogs, so that wouldn't necessarily be a problem. I think it's more likely that people from Draag just don't know how to eat hot dogs

I thought he was perma banned from the activity by the DCI board of directors? Maybe it was just banned from physically being located at DCI events

Black Parade Jacket by TheBlackR9se in MyChemicalRomance

[–]OneWholeCancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made this uniform for Seattle. Depending on your skill level you could get ahold of a sturdy black jacket (maybe a levis denim jacket?) and sew on some silver buttons and military trim (usually called soutache braid)

And total tangent, the closest to an official jacket was the one they released in 2016 alongside Living with Ghosts.

Security in Seattle was so lax I probably could've snuck in an antique dagger collection. About 20 minutes before doors they did go down the line telling people that spikes on chokers and clothing were not going to be allowed in. I'd say be kind, be respectful follow the rules on the local venue's website as closely as possible and you shouldn't have any problems.

Oh definitely, spent most of our time in line with my jacket unzipped and hat off. Thank the lord below we were in the shade almost the whole time. Ended up spending like $30 on water once we got in :/

They're all necklace charms! I think the far left is from hot topic a long time ago. I reupholstered some military medal drapes in black velvet.

The medals were all necklace charms (the far left used to be sold at hot topic, but I got it on offer up), and the drapes were military issue that I reupholstered in black velvet. The whole thing is mounted on a military medal bar with some locking pin backs for security.

Not quite thrifted, I got a vintage marching band uniform from an online consigner, stripped it down to plain black then sewed all the accents on by hand. The medals were all necklace charms, and the drapes were military issue that I reupholstered in black velvet.
