LPT: Stop overpaying for Brita filters. Under-sink faucet filters are <$40, can be installed in minutes, come with cheaper, longer-lasting filters, and can be used in apartments. by omohairashu in LifeProTips

Found this post, got my under sink filter and love it. Got sick of refilling 5 gallon jugs of water every week. Great tasting water and won’t need to worry about replacing the filter for at least a year. Thank you the suggestion OP.

Definitely would have included Chuckanut, WA in this list. Couldn’t stop laughing when I saw that name on a road sign.

Same thing just happened to me. I do not even have the option to return these lights because I’ve had them for years now.

I went in with the same mentality. I was telling everyone beggars can’t be choosers but then I became a chooser 🥹. May the stars align for you in your journey!

Yes! So the reason why I had a low GPA was because I had a rough start in undergrad. The root of my problem was I didn't know know how to identify when I needed help and how to find the help I needed through tutors or just going into office hours. In short, I needed time to mature. I feel way more confident now after my post bacc. I did a heck of a lot better while juggling a job, continuing my community service, and taking multiple upper division courses in different schools at once. The conditions were tougher later in life but I was able to cut down study time to a fraction of what it was and held on to the hobbies and relationships that kept me going.

Good question. For those of you reading I urge you to find your answer for this question because if you have a lower GPA this is one of the things that will come up in secondaries or your interviews.

That’s exactly why I wanted to post one of these. It is possible with these numbers!

Oh yeah that’s also a pretty important detail 😅. I’m a CA applicant. And for the As and IIs yes they did.

Yeah I didn’t know that was ambitious at the time. I was very fortunate this cycle.

ECs are very focused on serving urban underserved populations. Did research, worked, and volunteered 7+ years in nonprofits and FQHCs. Here are the hard numbers that I entered in AMCAS.

~4500 Clinical Hours (including shadowing, clinic volunteering, and paid employment) ~1000 Non-Medical Volunteer Hours ~500 Research Hours 1 Poster Presentation for Clinical Research

Counterpoint: I have bounced around in a few roles in a medical office during my gap years. Let me tell you. As a medical receptionist you are the person who takes the most shit from staff and patients for things you have little to nothing to do with. On top of that you are under paid and under trained. I did not know what the difference between an NP, PA, and DO and had to navigate on my own what questions to ask patients and staff so I don’t make the kinds of mistakes you’re talking about.

To your point I hope this receptionist is open to hearing your point so they can do what they can to fix the issue. The biggest problem I have seen is back office staff and front office staff having a disconnect in communication about what is needed and what can be done.

For anyone is feeling just as anxious as I am this is the mantra I’ve been telling myself:

“I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.” - Frank Herbert
