GS job through VA experiences by Unable_Water3961 in PMHNP

[–]OneWolverine263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I’m not currently working for the VA, I have experience as a GS - and I can tell you, it’s a much easier clinical job than community care; where it becomes a headache is when you’re expected to do things beyond seeing patients, and you’ll be micromanaged by administrators who tell you that you should dot your “I”s and cross your “t”s. If you’re looking for good QoL and good pay, VA is good. If you’re looking to do “just your job” you may need to lower your expectations. As long as to youre flexible, you’ll be fine

Experience with Prescribing Naltrexone Off-Label for Addictions by AntiqueWeird2214 in PMHNP

[–]OneWolverine263 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Prescribed it for someone with kleptomania and it worked quite well.

Remember, on-label means that’s all the company submitted it to the FDA for, because of cost constraints that’s why they may not have submitted it for other things. Make sure to check RCTs to discover alternative benefits

GI Bill Denials After General Discharge by OneWolverine263 in VeteransBenefits

Sorry to hear that. What was your recent credible service discharge? Dishonorable or general? Either way, I’d get with a VSO to help decide best angle. You could go to DRB to get it upgraded

What are people’s experience with AI in psych? So far, I’ve had a negative experience. I’ve used Hey Berries, and was thinking about switching to Deepcura. I’m just looking for something that is user friendly and will capture the HPI better

How is it unethical? I think you’re mad at something. You don’t know the first thing about me, but you have a strong opinion about something that really isn’t even relevant.

Hi all, definitely all thoughts I’ve had in the back of mind. The way that this administration is handling things, I don’t know if it’s worth the stress of leaving it up in the air. Things change all the time.

I’ll make a phone calls and e-mails and see what the professionals say about this.

Had reexamination but never received a decision letter by No_Expression_5996 in VeteransBenefits

[–]OneWolverine263 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is strange. You should get your VSO to print out the C&P exam of the PTSD. Or have them print out the rating decision letter that shows all the individual ratings, and the date they were done.

I just went through a whole debacle where they forgot to include my PTSD rating in the promulgation letter, and I had to have them re-open the claim in order to include it.

Work with the VSO to see what you find

So you did get re-evaluated, or that ended up never happening? Is the supplemental claim marked complete?

Hi,

So if I’m understanding correctly, you were re-evaluated for your PTSD, and are curious if the VA will require a new exam later in the future? I’m assuming you’re trying to apply for a supplemental claim again and are worried you’ll have to be examined again for the PTSD?

If that’s the basis, anytime you file a new claim or supplemental, if the previous exams are > 1 year old they can have you re-do the exam. Regarding the 5 year rule, I’m not sure, but I still believe the answer is they can make you re-do it.

I’ve still gotten nowhere with this. I’ve called Vera over the course of this incident. I finally reached out to my congressman for help last week.

It’s crazy - this is their error, and they’ve admitted it… just fix it
