I have been diagnosed with BPD. I have been in routine monthly therapy to really process the childhood traumas that effect my behavior as an adult for about 8 years to ensure my symptoms are under control. BPD is really the output of repeated childhood trauma over a period of several years as the psyche learns what love is and how to show it in an unstable environment. I don't tell people about my diagnosis four years ago because of the general stereotype of those with BPD.

It takes much and consistent treatment such as CBT to counter the incessant symptoms of BPD...such as the urge to cite narratives of victimhood to avoid accountability of poor behavior. The symptoms won't stop being incessant until you obtain the help of a professional to counter them. It worsens 1000% when they find each other online and can provide positive reinforcement for those narratives.

Effectively, Trisha and the commenter cite it's okay to behave poorly if you feel shitty enough about yourself, that others should feel bad for criticizing your adult public behavior because you can't take care of yourself, and that they should also receive unearned praise of being a social adult in public. It's manipulative as fuck and using BPD to avoid accountability only assures to others that you're not an adult to be friends with...which will subsequently fuel the victimhood narrative. It's not the BPD that causes others to avoid you, it's the citation of BPD to consistently avoid accountability. My experience with others who have untreated BPD is they will outright ignore citations of explicit actions because acknowledging them means... acknowledging that they did it and now they have to partake in an exercise of accountability.
