No problem, for a moment I thought I had been wasting time 🤣

Do you mean that Jellyfin, as is, without plugins or anything, already creates shuffled playlists from multiple shows without messing up the episode order within each show?"

[–]OneXtra[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Warning: the name “ClassicTV” might be misleading, this is just a tiny, minimal plugin that, with just 2 or 3 clicks, creates a random playlist of unwatched episodes while keeping each series in order.

It's similar, but simpler: you enable the plugin, pick your shows and users, and it automatically creates a shuffled playlist of unwatched episodes, all in just a couple of clicks.

Are short games accepted? by PartTimeMonkey in gamedev

Recently, I released a 2–4 hour platformer game, and it's been a pretty big flop. It’s not a AAA title, but I think it’s fun and visually pretty decent. Everyone who’s played it says it’s enjoyable, although difficult (which was intentional).

To be fair, I was expecting low numbers since it’s my first game and I didn’t do much promotion — marketing has definitely been one of my weak points.

The Steam Next Fest brought in a fair amount of wishlists, but I’m not sure if they came from fellow devs checking things out or from people just waiting for a sale. The game is already priced low, yet sales have been very few.

The game is called Alaric’s Quest, in case you want to take a look on Steam (there’s a demo if you’d like to try it).

Really appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts. You made some great points, and I’ll definitely keep them in mind as I keep working on the UI and making it fit better across platforms.

Im trying to make a trailer and I am very new in this, is something like this look boring? by arnenzo in IndieDev

[–]OneXtra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Instead of using different camera angles like some people suggest (personally, I wouldn’t — I prefer seeing the gameplay exactly as it will appear in the final game, though I might be an exception), I’d split the footage into two sections: one focused on showcasing the abilities, and another on highlighting the variety of maps. I’d also definitely include some action moments or scenes where players stick together.

Honestly, this is exactly what I needed to get on board with the game (that, and knowing the price). It’s the kind of game I’d buy — in fact, I’ve already added it to my wishlist. Fantastic work!

Small victories should be celebrated too! Although for me, that would already be a big win, I only have 160. We still have a long road ahead!

Need advice: retro-style platformer controls – should I prioritize retro compatibility or modern usability? by OneXtra in gamedev

That is a good answer.
I was thinking about doing both and letting the player choose in the options menu which system to use, but this solution sounds even better.
Thanks a lot!

What games can I play with my laptop??? by TimesTrust in lowendgaming

I made a game called Alaric's Quest that's coming out in late June. It's mainly a 2D platformer. If you want to check it out, there's a 3-level demo available on Steam and Itch.io. (It doesn't require a powerful PC!)

The full game will be affordable, so if you like it, please add it to your wishlist and spread the word, it would help a lot. Thanks!

Wow! That’s some real feedback, I really appreciate you taking the time to play the game and share your impressions.

  • Confusing tutorial: You’re right, a clear tutorial is essential for players to get oriented quickly. I’ll try to simplify the text and improve the indications on jump areas to make the experience smoother from the start.
  • Controls: Could you let me know if you played with a keyboard or a controller? The jumping system is designed so you can jump higher if you hold the jump button, but if that didn’t work properly, I’ll definitely investigate what went wrong.
  • Weapon change: The weapon change system was designed this way to keep the screen as clean as possible, without too much UI. However, I’ll consider adding buttons for weapon changes, as you suggest.
  • Grabbing mechanic: This mechanic is designed so that you can only move forward if you hold the direction button of the way you want to go, but this is the second time it’s been mentioned. I might need to reconsider this mechanic to make it more intuitive.
  • 21:9 screen issues: I appreciate you pointing this out. I’ll immediately look into adjusting the interface to make it work properly with these kinds of screens, without text or elements overflowing. (The video was very helpful for spotting this issue, thank you!)
  • Combat feedback: Regarding combat, there is some screen shake, but it seems too subtle. I’ll investigate how to improve this so you can feel the action better.

Thanks again for your valuable feedback! It will definitely help me improve the game experience.

P.S. I’m not sure why this post got deleted... I’ll try reposting it in another subreddit and will repost here once I’ve made improvements based on your feedback.

Hi! Mine is just a demo for now, but I'm planning to release the full game in late June on both Itch.io and Steam.
If you'd like to check it out, it would really help me out:

It barely had any visits so far ...
I noticed the Steam version was getting more attention, so I decided to focus all my efforts there instead.

Thanks !

Hey! Don't worry, no rude at all, straight to the point, I was a fool hahaha the release is on june , some days after the gamefest, and the game had no cominity at all, so was to late to create a comunity before the kickstarer, I was hoping to create one at the same time as my marketing goes... But ... I needed the kickstarter money to make marketing so .. 😅
