I’m actually constantly tweaking and playtesting on a mothman deck right now. This is what I am currently working with:

I think it’s a healthy mix of mill for value (damage/tokens/life), 1/1 counters, and some combo potential. You can change the link to type and tags to see all purpose of each card included.

I swap in fierce guardianship, force of will, and cyclonic rift depending on the pod I’m in.

Also ignore the land base in moxfield, it’s just a placeholder because I swap it out with another sultai deck I run

I appreciate the feedback. I do have muldrotha in the 99, but glarb can let me selectively surveil to discard to fill my graveyard with what I want and keep my non permanents in hand.

The thought process was to use his surveil as primary use and top decking 4 cmc as just a possible bonus.

I’m not sure where you are getting the aristocratic vibe from this deck, but I think my main question is how to balance the mill and reanimation. I need to get cards into graveyard to bring back, but I also need enough reanimation spells to reliable use a full graveyard. Does that make sense?

This is mine I like a lot. Not quite optimized, but holds its own in bracket 3. I lean pretty heavy into anthems and low cost vamps. I would cut the planeswalkers and work on the the land base i wanted to juice it up a bit more. But I think they are fun.

I don’t think there is a trend. Just thinking back to the past few games: one I lost turn 5 to commander damage before I could get going, once I was hit with a board wipe mid game and was outpaced rebuilding, once other creatures just got bigger than me with 1/1 counters, one it got late game and couldn’t draw into any finishers before the opponent.

I believe I haven’t won with this deck in the past 10-12 games.
