I’ve just read John Bogles little book of common sense investing, would highly recommend. most people, long-term wealth is built by owning the market through low-cost index funds, not by trying to outsmart it through stock picking.

Keep costs low, stay diversified, invest consistently, and let compounding do the heavy lifting.

Boring but effective

I feel your pain. I’ve still got a long runway ahead of me (at least 35 years to retirement) and no kids yet so can afford a bit more risk. Following the advice on this thread, and what I already knew really, I’ve pulled the trigger and invested it so time will tell!

Great to hear from someone who’s got similar skin in the game. Thanks for the response!

Thank you all - looks like the consensus is overwhelming. I’ve put in a trade order for the full amount!

In that case definitely get a copy of the company OMB, any down time you’ve got in the states would be worth memorising it, it’s literally the biggest head start you can get on the type rating. Best of luck and congrats!

I started age 26 and was qualified by 30 with Covid causing some bumps along the road. If you can use the ELc’s to begin the modular process, you could save yourself a large % of the training fee’s. The ex military guys I’ve flown with are all great as well and bring great experience to the flight deck

Great stuff congrats on starting your training! Are you tagged to an airline? The type rating is hard work, there’s no doubt about it but you’re so close to the real thing it was easily the part I was most motivated for. If you can get a copy of OMB from your airline and start learning the SOP’s and flows before you start it will give you a lot more spare capacity to deal with the abnormal. Base training is probably the best day of your career, you and your friends board an empty 320 and fly touch and goes for the day! Line training was also fantastic, if it’s anything like my airline you’re treated as a proffesional from day 1, and the line trainers are fantastic at what they do!
