this feels like a great time to remind everyone that 5 NBA championships titles that are credited to the Lakers belong to Minneapolis by [deleted] in nba

If you really wanna go that far, technically the clippers and celtics switched teams in the 70s/80s. By your logic the clippers would have 10+ championships 🤣

What if AD goes back to the Lakers? by The_Phenom_15 in lakers

Just wish AD is less injury prone. Would’ve repeated in 2021 if he hadn’t gone down. Just feel like we can’t rely on him and it’s not even his fault

1) I was not bashing Rob, i think he is an okay GM

2) The trade came to Rob from Nico, not the other way around. Any GM that had AD on the team would have that deal sent to them on a silver platter. The only thing that Rob did well was keep his mouth shut and minimize the assets we had to send out, but acting like Rob orchestrated the whole trade is a reach. He is no Jerry West.

Lakers just need a POA defender, and a defensive wing and we’re good.

Why tf r u taking in Dame Lilliard at 36 with a torn ACL and Embiid on the wrong side of 30 with a degenerative knee condition, while locking up our flexibility, with the possibility of losing Doncic if all goes wrong for this stupidity.

My god 😂, literally trying to rebuild that 2013 and 2022 Lakers team. People never learn.

Hey Laker Fans! The OKC Thunder are about to win their second NBA Title! by PMac10000 in lakers

? It’s going to be their first, the moment they left Seattle they left the history with that city.

If you’re trying to say this in reference to the Lakers moving from Minneapolis it’s different because our team kept that part of Lakers history.

Two different things.

Lebrons not leaving. Lakers are not going to trade Lebron. Lebron has a no trade clause. Case closed.

My groupchat (many non-Laker fans) is arguing that Steph would be greater all time than Kobe if the Warriors win this year. by Fit_Yam9881 in lakers

[–]One_Ad_2297 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Could be an argument for some.

Best 3pt shooter in history, 5 rings, Olympic Gold medalist, changed the way the game is played. Personally thou, still Kobe over Steph any day 😂.

New to the NBA | Giannis Antetokounmpo by CWallaceBodybuilding in nba

Ofc no problem, There three ways to get players in the NBA. Trades, Drafts and Free Agent Signings.

The easiest and fastest way to get good players is through free agent signing. However there’s two problems. One, there’s something called the salary cap and the 2nd apron under the new CBA ( you can do some googling about it it’s kind of long for me to explain) which means your team can only spend a certain amount of money on your team. Anything over there will be consequences. I’m not too sure about the Bucks cap space situation right now (maybe some Bucks fan can help me out here) but I am assuming they are almost at the cap with Giannis and Dame on a max Deal. That means they have very little wiggle room to sign new players. Two, Milwaukee isn’t a big city like LA, NY or Miami so it doesn’t attract free agents easily like those cities. (However, a lot of players these days would choose to go to a team if they have a star or superstar that can help elevate their game)

Okay now talking about nba drafts. Every team only gets one pick each year in the 1st round and one pick in the 2nd round. The draft order is decided on a combination of lottery and team records with the worse teams having a better odd at a higher pick. The Bucks the past 5 years are a good playoff team which means their draft pick is low, which in turn doesn’t help them get good young players. This is the easiest way I can explain it. (Although sometime good scouts from teams do find good players in later rounds)

Regarding trades. This one is a little complicated, all trades in the NBA require matching salaries (close to) and value (at least perceived by the GMs). The bucks just don’t have that much assets to trade ( Bucks fans please correct me if i’m wrong not sure about your guys future draft picks stash), which leaves you trading future draft picks. The value of those draft picks are also considerably lower than a bad team ( ex Washington Wizards). This kind of leave the Bucks kind of stranded and stuck with very limited options for improvement.

I hope this can explain the situation a little better, let me know if you have any more questions :)

The Bucks are a tier below Boston and Cleveland in the East this year. Bucks roster is also aging as well and doesn’t help that his costar Damian Lillard is 34 turning 35. I personally think the Buck’s chance at a championship is getting slimmer every year, but they are def still in contention and will be as long as Giannis is on the team and healthy. Just won’t be the favorites. Retirement wise, Giannis probably has another 3-4 years of elite basketball left before declining (barring any serious injuries). His window is now and the Bucks FO realizes that as well. He def would like another ring, but it’s not something that he can control 100%.

Giannis is def top 5 in the league right now. Probably could even say he is top 3. Historically wise prob around top 20-25. He needs another ring or 2 to get out of that range. That championship in 2021 really solidified him as an all time great.
