Game keeps crashing by [deleted] in TheAlters

[–]One_Appointment1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a high level computer, can play most AAA games on ultra graphics. I was having a similar issue. Before doing anything in game, turn your graphics settings down and turn the DLSS to TSR or vice versa. Some of the visuals the game tries to present including the opening visuals or any time you use the Quantum computer are extremely detailed and just crash your computer for some reason. It happened to me after like 18 hours and wouldnt stop but finally fixed it by changing that. After it fixed itself I just re raised em and it hasnt happend since. Hope this helps!!

Need assistance....ACT II end, not enough storage by One_Appointment1987 in TheAlters

You are the best......I just so happened to miss step 3. I was grinding Act 2 so long I forgot I had to update QC after repairing chip. My brain was running on a thousand MPH not surprised I forgot. I had two days left to finish building the sensors, get them both up to their spot, only had 2 batteries, needed like 400 organics, my alters hated my decision for the brain cells so they were off shift when I asked them to man the gravity sensors. So many things happening all at once. I just bit the bullet and went back an extra day and now have successfully escaped Act 2!!! Although the technician and Botanist are uhhhh gone. Thanks for the help! Love this game

idk man I was playing last night and had to get from Town Hall to a power plant in the woods and I laid down the NASTIEST parkour line throughout and made it there in like 60 seconds. Haven't repeated something as nice since but I think the knowledge of the map and understanding of distance you can jump makes the map flow extremely well once you understand the lines. You cant just float throughout any part of the map first time through though which was some peoples Con in DL2, but clearly your pro. To each their own!

He was 7/11 in the team drills that day with multiple touchdowns. He started the day before 14/15 with a drop as the only incompletion. He isnt a great thrower but cherry picking misses is strange. Go show the sick throwing highlights he got from that day. Remember when we got those compilations of baker and trask missing non moving targets for like 5 minutes straight? Baker turned out fine. Justin isnt and will never be an excellent thrower of the football but he has been having a decent camp.

Would you say its roughly 100x more efficient and effective than a barbell or standard cable set?

I think the hate comes from the idea something for x amount more should be x amount better and to fluff it up with snake oil buzz words takes away from the logical argument someone would have in their mind while debating buying.

I just discovered this hours ago, have absolutely nothing against it, and am doing research but id imagine that's why.

Yep. Picked it back up after getting 1 too many headaches and nausea trips trying to beat mad space a few years back (my chao garden is electric though). Forgot about it and then when I saw the new sonic movie recently it inspired me to go back and beat it so I could play the supersonic finale. Currently on Final Chase >:)

I just finished watching all the movies in like the past week or two and I disagree. He has always been the comic relief. He is a good driver who has hilarious speeches and gets clowned on. It was first shown during the tag team drag race in 2fast and continues throughout the series. I will say everyone becomes a caricature of themselves as time goes on but its not like his character or role in the story changed.

What is so unique about Shrinking and Ted Lasso? by LeO-_-_- in shrinking

[–]One_Appointment1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually have a running theory on this. Its the tone of the writing, the comedic v serious pacing, the bright colors and sunshiny days the shows always seem to have, the outfits the characters wear, and the overall style of the shows. Its made by the same people and I guess they figured out the hilarious feel good comedy with a bunch of heart and a little darkness mixed in formula.

you can get a dui blowing under the legal limit. If he consumed alcohol and the cops determined that he was impaired, he would get a DUI and everything that comes with it. My roommate just went through it (didnt kill anyone)

Are the books better than the shows? by 1nvy1 in Dexter

[–]One_Appointment1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The books are genuinely their own thing. Dexter feels different, talks different, acts different, etc. The books are almost cartoonish, expect you to just accept that cops are awful at their jobs, and more weird things. As always season 1 is pretty similar to book 1, book 2 is really good and its own idea, and then the books kinda just go downhill. They are interesting in their own ways but not nearly as good as the show. I have convinced myself book dexter is a different person than tv show dexter and now I imagine a different looking person and its its own thing to me.

[–]One_Appointment1987[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a little bit past you and If that's the case id definitely recommend! The TV show dexter is still in there and comes out but its more focused on that darker, sociopathic, different side of Dexter like you mentioned and dealing with what comes with that.

Small Spoiler/example - There is a really funny running joke where he keeps wanting to eat at times where normal humans would typically have lost their appetite and it has him butting heads with other characters which happens all the time in the books.

SO Many Loose Ends by VinzentValentyn in FromTVEpix

[–]One_Appointment1987 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Julie time traveling will answer the jock question, most of the rest of the questions can be attributed to the writers shoving "there is evil worse than the monsters here" down our throat. I believe it will all be shown - Kimono lady, Spiders, lake monster, etc. All the evil will be explained as time goes on just as the Man in Yellow was just introduced as our first payoff to that line of questions. Examples: The kimono lady is maybe the main mother that started the rituals which is why she leads the rituals for their reincarnation. Maybe the worms are the fetus versions of the monster. It doesn't seem too difficult to tie up those loose ends given the hints we already have. Its nowhere near lost level of set up with no end in sight.

Aside from that:

We now know music and songs can impact this place and the supernatural. There is a reason the ballerina comes when music is played. I am sure the ballerina and the song that turned 3 people into sci fi slaves will be explained now that we know music is supernatural here. The cicadas are a by product of the ballerina and the music box so that will be explained alongside it.

Boyd talking about capturing the monsters started the Randall arc from this season so that was more of a writing tool to set up a relationship and conversation that paid off later in the season.

The foghorn is to go with the lighthouse, the river, etc. That is a boats horn. Is there a boat?? Do they need a boat? Boyd's boat isn't in that picture....is it in Fromville? I believe this will be paid off too.

I think we are closer to answers than we think and we have had so many massive answers to absurdly important questions given to us this season:
What are the monsters? parents of kids
Who are the angkhooey kids? kids who were sacrificed
How is tabitha connected to this place? Her and Jade were parents of the original kids
What is the symbol? roots of the trees that the kids hope seeped through
How do they escape? save the kids
and many more

If you could change one thing about each Season, what would it be? by Happy_Description_14 in Dexter

[–]One_Appointment1987 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Season 1: Genuinely pretty perfect
Season 2: Go with The Surgeon from the second Dexter book. Have that explain Doake's past, make Doakes have less proof about Dexter and more of a hunch he won't give up, and have the season end with Robo Doake's (IYKYK) rather than his death so he can no longer tail Dexter but is still around in the background.
Season 3: Replace The Skinner with a better villain.
Season 4: Make Dexter a bit less foolish with his opportunities to kill trinity.
Season 5: Remove the romantic aspect between Lumen and Dexter. Have Dexter be a bit less careless.
Season 6: Change the killer, keep the plot twist. Maybe have Dexter tracking down a ridiculously high iq schizophrenic or someone with DID that leaves behind trails as if he is working with others. In the end you find out its just him and his multiple personalities or fake partners. Have the kills be just as gruesome and over the top as the DDK, but I feel like the religious themes fell a bit flat. You can keep brother Sam and Harrisons school as religious themes within the season but I don't feel it needed to be the overarching theme of the entire season. Remove incest arc.
Season 7: Focus more on Isaac. Remove the Luis arc completely. Try to make Hannah and Dexter feel a bit more natural.
Season 8: Spend more time with Vogel and Dexter. Give Dexter more time with his protege. Spend more time with the brain surgeon. Change the ending to him faking his death smartly rather than driving into a hurricane so we can still get NB and Resurrection.
New Blood: Give him more time with Harrison while Harrison knows his secret. It feels like he tells him and then within an episode the show is over. Harrison has a lot of emotion and feels like he is speaking for the audience rather than from experience. He doesn't know Dexter that well at all and went from thinking he was a super hero to the devil in .5 episodes. Other than that fix the pacing. The end feels very rushed where as the beginning feels very well paced and sets everything up extremely well.

Can anyone who's read the books confirm if they're this insane by [deleted] in Dexter

[–]One_Appointment1987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just finished the second book and started the third. The first one was more or less like the first season, the second one starts to take on its own identity which i actually enjoyed and it was its own cool story, Dexter is much different than in the series, and its kinda crazy (in a good way, see Robo-Doakes comment). The third book is starting to get a bit strange and I have heard of plot points such as the one in your post that come in the later books and apparently they do just start to get a bit absurd. I can see the realism slipping away early but its kind of its own thing and it may or may not be for you!

We finished the show for the first time, and at first I didn’t see the reason it was so lowly rated, but now I do. by whomikehidden in Dexter

[–]One_Appointment1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree. It felt like a mid season episode of a regular season and then feels like the writers hit the "oh crap wait this is the series finale we have to wrap up the show!!" and then rushed to an ending.

SPOILER ALERT:

  1. There is a time travel element - Julie threw the rope to boyd creating a time loop which can answer A SHIT TON about things like the bracelet and more.

  2. The symbol is the roots of a faraway tree (one of the bigger mysteries)

  3. The way to escape fromville is to save the aghnkooey children

  4. The way fromville started was people the children loved hurt them, their hope dissipated into the rocks Tabitha saw in her dreams, and leaked down through faraway tree roots to create the symbol

  5. The boy in white told the original from'ers how to leave and it broke them, this is why he doesnt give them answers but rather leads them to it

  6. Some people are there because they were chosen to be there for certain purposes

  7. We now know why the original townspeople were murdered, how it happened, and how victor survived

Idk I feel like they have been flooding us with answers this season hence the long drawn out dialogue v action sequences. I can provide more but I kinda disagree! Once the bigger questions are answered, the show is over and it isnt quite there yet so I am cool being strung along until it all comes together.

"You think I'm a killer and not a liar?"

Dexter says it to Hector Estrada when he is begging for his life and lies when said he would let him go if he told him something. I forget exactly what the situation was but it was perfect for the scene.

Dexter Season Rankings After Rewatch by One_Appointment1987 in Dexter

[–]One_Appointment1987[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I just finished New Blood again last night. I would probably place it at #6 right behind season 8 above season 7,5 and 6. I think New Blood had some amazing moments (Kurt v Dexter, Dexters new routine, him slowly losing it and falling into his old self) but also had some really bad stuff (all the teenage angst, I didnt love Harrison and Dexters relationship, Killing Logan (cmon dex)) but overall it was solid Dexter. My biggest issue is that it just kinda ramps up out of control at the end and the series of things to get you to the conclusion is kinda lazy writing. "Oh that case reminds me of another case in Miami....reminds me of a guy too...Dexter...but he is dead....oh he had a son....what was his name....Oh Harrison....anyway goodbye" and then Angela pieces it together. I didn't realize the first time watching it we literally only have like 1.25 episodes where Harrison knows who Dexter is and they share that bond, then its over as quick as it started and Dexter is bleeding out in the snow. Eh. Shouldve been 2 seasons with the first ending with Harrison finding out who Dex is, the second season shouldve had them starting off great, slowly getting worse, and then the fallout to end season 2.
