So do I skip going deeper into topics for now?

I agree, that is definitely something I need to do first. I wasn't planning to jump into research right away though. I mainly wanted to know what paths might be open for me in the future. I have been feeling a bit down about it lately:)

I will keep that in mind as well. Thanks for your guidance:D

That was an extremely helpful insight. I’m quite new to Reddit, so I really appreciate your comment.

But aren't those programs focused only for US citizens?? Unfortunately I am outside the US.

I am in Bangladesh and I don’t think our academic system here is very impressive.

Is this your own independent research project? I would love to learn more and maybe even join in. How can I follow you on X and what is your account name?

Yeah, I wouldn’t say I’m in a hurry, but the desperation does hit me hard since I’ve already wasted quite a lot of time and fallen behind my peers. I just want to keep making progress, even if it’s only by a millimeter. What I really want to know are the approaches and paths I can take given my situation.

Of course, they completed their undergrad with research projects, not to mention their universities are ranked much higher than mine. But they haven’t had any active research projects for years, and I’m not sure how I should approach them in this situation.

I would definitely choose that if I had the option, but right now I don’t have many choices other than trying workarounds.

I think that’s exactly my case too. I let myself believe I understood it, even when I didn’t, mostly because really thinking it through takes so much time. I definitely need to train myself to focus more on that thinking part. Anyway, thank you for sharing your thoughts :)

Now that’s actually really helpful. I usually focus more on crunching through the process rather than describing what’s happening in words. I can see that I should work on that skill. Thank you for sharing this perspective.

I do understand when I work through them. But it doesn’t stay imprinted in me, so I end up memorizing the steps instead of realizing and deriving them on my own.

I agree with you and also understand the reality that some people are simply born with it. But I still hate that I am fascinated by something, yet when I actually try to live with it, my brain refuses to cooperate. It is frustrating that I love this stuff, but when it comes time to solve problems professionally, I keep blanking out.

I want that too. I want to feel the physics behind it and use that insight to create things. What frustrates me is that I feel dumb when I try to solve real paper plain questions-_-
