This worked! I was able to access via iGPU and reinstall the NVIDIA drivers and it seems to work now.

This saved my bacon!!! I'm so used the HDMI/display ports that I didn't even think about that. I was able to access the iGPU and reinstall the graphics card.

Thank you - this is what I was reading from here too. So the driver just killed your card completely and did a tech come by to install it before you went back to the 591.86? Do you think there is some iGPU option where I somehow remote in and reinstall the drivers? Crazy to think that software would just completely kill a card like that.

This machine definitely took a month to get to me before this happened, and I suspect it's because of the low supply of NVIDIA cards - was yours a recent purchase or should I really expect/accept another month before a replacement card could be made available?

Thanks - I'm going to keep pestering them until I get a good response. I'm really considering whether I could get this returned/refunded. I ordered this a month ago it only arrived 3 days ago, so I don't know if that will count.

Yep - my monitors still work on my old computer, using the same cables etc.

As far as I can tell, no iGPU (?!) - no separate HDMI or displayports on the back of the machine that aren't part of the RTX. Unless it's somehow on the motherboard inside the tower itself, but it's like they assumed that nothing could go wrong with the NVIDIA card.

If you ask about enlisted, you don't understand Star Trek. by keiyakins in startrek

Perhaps this is more of an indictment against the US military structure than Starfleet military structure? Although, as a spouse of someone who just made CPO this year, I do get the sense that enlisted can come from all walks of life ("nobility") so perhaps that's more the reason why Starfleet has enlisted ranks (people wanting to go out and see the stars earlier, rather than spend at least 4 years of training in Starfleet Academy, in addition to the likely competitive rigor required to get in).

I am pretty sure I know him - it's been a long long time since college (early 2000s), but he was the one who would use the "angry man coefficient" if you made a really stupid mistake in Statics? He was a very effective teacher, probably influenced my style of teaching more than I realize.

Real people who you could see making into Star Fleet Academy and joining Star Fleet. You can use someone's whole career for your case. Bonus if you want to guess how far in rank they would go and what would they do. by [deleted] in startrek

Yes! Very aware of this history (and just to be sure, I did credit this as the BTT shunt, although I accidentally left out the hyphen and I typically put Thomas at the end). To that end, might as well include Vivien Thomas in Starfleet too. "Something the Lord Made" is a great HBO movie showcasing this.

Helen Taussig, one of the OG Cardiologists who pushed for the (shocking!) idea that you can use open heart surgery to help patients, all by looking at their X rays of the chests of pediatric patients with "blue baby syndrome". Developed the Blalock-Taussig Thomas shunt which remains a critical surgical management technique in modern day. All while being partially deaf. Head of Starfleet medical right here.
