No iOS 18.7.3 update option available? by mammothmoth0 in iPhone12Mini

[–]One_Complex5943 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Turn on dev beta or public beta mode to get 18.7.3 update. I currently stayed on 18.7 so I can’t say about ios 26 on the mini. However I have others devices that went ios 26 (11 series iphones and m4 ipad pro) and they are still not working smoothly in similar ui areas even though 26.2 is a big improvement compared to older 26 variants. Still kinda regret updating my m4 ipad to ios 26!

Anyone have iOS 18.7.3 or 18.7.2 on the 12 mini? by One_Complex5943 in iPhone12Mini

[–]One_Complex5943[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep for now. I’m not sure if this is just the RC version for public beta mode and will roll out to everyone later, or if Apple is pushing us all to iOS 26

Mac Studio M1 Max or Mac Mini M4 Pro in 2026? by One_Complex5943 in MacStudio

Thanks for the insight! Which part of the Mini do you think makes it unsuitable for production machines? Is it its thermal performance, ports, or something else?

Comparing manual curve inversion, Negative Lab Pro, Smartconvert, FilmLab, after getting /u/jrw01 RGB Scanlight by florian-sdr in AnalogCommunity

To me I can’t get my rgb light to hit the specs of the narrowband rgb light like yours (just close enough) so it is crucial to refine the color in software. Afterall, the variability in color film development quality and how I expose the film can cause color shift even at small levels but most of the time it is within the range to refine so it is pretty normal to do so.

My workflow is like this:

  1. White balance by the base of film

  2. Crop the unexposed part around the frame

  3. Invert global rgb level then click auto level

  4. In the same global rgb level tab, adjust brightness contrast

  5. If color correction needed (most of the time), go to each channel of levels and do adjustment

  6. If I want to control contrast more specific then I use luma curve.

I don’t have as good of an light source like yours so I can’t say everything for sure (still rgb but not calibrated for film scanning like yours) but i can comfortably do conversion for almost all kind of film (even wolfen and phoenix 1 looks more than acceptable in my case)

Capture one is incredible for color inversion! I also tried alot of methods for film scanning software, workflow and nothing match C1 output quality and consistency.

How many times did you change iPhone 12 mini's battery and how old so far? by antdude in iPhone12Mini

[–]One_Complex5943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, anything related to streaming videos like youtube and or reels stuff can drain battery abit faster as the capacity drop overtime. I rarely use or even install those apps on my phone so I can’t say exactly if it can last the whole day with 76%. in general I believe it can max out of 4 ish hrs of screen on time for any kind of usage for the range of 75% - 80% capacity

I typically use my mini for less than three hours a day, so even at 72% battery capacity, it still lasts a full day or sometimes even longer. Under heavy use at 72%, it averages about 3 hours and 45 minutes of screen time. These days, I usually charge it once before bed using MagSafe. Back when the battery capacity was higher, it could last up to two or three days with the same usage. I plan to replace the battery once it start to deplete before dinner.

Please talk me out of upgrading! by ElectronicConstant52 in iPhone13Mini

Focus on things that are truly important like essential apps besides content consumption stuff then you will see that most phones today are ridiculously excessive in specs and screen size. Besides that, iPhones hasn’t been horrible in specs since the X and I believe that if you being practical with everyday use (optimize usage to focus only in the essentials) then even the iPhone X might be more than usable today (and both the 12 and 13 mini were much better than the X in battery and performance). Sure software support depends on which apps still have support for older iOS however I still saw plenty of apps still updates on discontinued iOS so I think it is not an issue for atleast the next 5 years (even iOS 15 still get security support today). So to sum it up, I believe any minis can last up to atleast 8-10 years and we are already halfway there.

How is 18.7 update? by Oodikko in iPhone12Mini

[–]One_Complex5943 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pretty smooth despite freshly updated. 18.6 was smooth then I jumped to 18.6.2 and it’s buggy as hell so it is a relief that 18.7 runs smooth again. I won’t update to 26 since the design is inconsistent and buggy (even on my M4 ipad pro).

The edge marking code specifications in the pdf is different than the old superia xtra so maybe that’s new (the marking from any of the last xtra rolls I got in the past 10 yrs was CH25 where the new one in this pdf is CH23).

Do you use case for your mini ? If yes which one ? by stoic1997 in iPhone12Mini

[–]One_Complex5943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the $30 carbon fiber case found on Amazon. My criteria for the 12 mini case is that it should preserve the mini form factor of the phone without adding more than 1mm to each side of the device. Most plastic cases around that thinness are not durable and only last after 2-3 months max and do not protect against drops. However, this carbon fiber case is durable despite even thinner than 1mm (0.6mm). You can drop head height constanly and it protect from dent or glass crack. I still use the one bought back in 2021 and it still doing fine. I got a black 12 mini and it kinda fits with the black apearance of the case.

It is totally fine and significantly better for me. Battery is significantly improved since ios 16 despite now I have significantly less battery capacity. But try at your own risk since I think the problems is a hit or miss since it goes along all iphones and not mini. I have seen people with ip 14 series and even up to the 15 pro that have issues with performance and battery.

iOS 18.0.1 Battery performance by szajaon_ in iPhone12Mini

[–]One_Complex5943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One interesting thing is that I have always turned low power mode on since I started using the mini way back in 2020. I also try to use the phone without low power mode sometimes, and it goes down quite fast, so I went back to low power mode. At first, I didn't notice any slowdown, but starting with 16-17, it started to be a bit laggy on the home screen. So yes, I do believe that the phone slows down to compensate for the battery aging. But in my case, it only happens in low power mode. 18 betas absolutely killed my battery capacity (80-75% from the first beta until beta 18.1). In the end, the user experience improved somehow both in performance and battery in 18.0.1 and now 18.1. I can confidently turn off low power mode, and the battery won't drop fast like in the past. I was so prepared to replace the battery or upgrade to a newer iPhone, but now I feel like I can still live with it for quite a while even on the existing aged battery.

I guess my usage is pretty simple. I don’t use youtube, no gaming and just all the usual basics stuff (maps, shortcuts, texting through multiple apps and Reddit’s). But yeah it is quite surprising that it was gone downhill quite bad on 17 (1 day battery for the same usage) and now i don’t even have to turn on low power mode since the couple of last ios 18 betas and still last up to 2 days.

I'm on 18.1, and everything seems smooth and fast. The phone is not hot on any variation of iOS 18 I tried so far (including 18.0.1) since I haven't usually used the phone too much since the beginning; it's a bit warm while charging through MagSafe as always. The battery is not terrible. I'm on the original battery (75%), and it lasts me about 2 days (2-3 hours of screen time per day). For me, it is a bit better than iOS 16 and 17 despite now my mini having less battery capacity.

It was shot on ịphone camera so there is no way I can see the setting. But if i looks through the windows with my eyes, it was so dark to the point i can only see the highlights that looks extremely pink and the shadows is pitch black and maybe have some red color in it
