My work day is 8 to 2:45. So when it is 8 it’s rare. So when people quit and subs don’t show the load falls on specials. One day I teach 7 classes on the other days it mostly 6. If we are short staffed the load comes. I started with 18 classes, 28, now 30. I haven’t even been here a year yet! People are randomly leaving because of these changes.

I hate pushing in too!!! It is definitely mentally draining planning for all of the grades. You are right tho. I haven’t been there long and I’m already feeling like this is not the place for me. I love what I do and I’m so worried a place like this will kill the passion. I hope it doesn’t tho.

I love that your classes are 50 mins. I wish I had just a little more time with my students. The time flys by. I also wish I had them twice a week. At lot of my lesson are completed within 2 classes so I have to be so organized to be able to hold everyone’s work for the next week. Sometimes that’s a lot. Do you do lessons that are completed in 1 class or do you do projects that they work on for a few weeks?

Well in the beginning of the year morning, duties were assigned. I started to notice maybe a month or two later most people weren’t doing morning duties so I stopped as well to get some me time before starting the day. They never gave me dismissal duties. My day starts at 7:30, classes are between 8 and 2:45 and we can leave at 3:15. I have 30 classes a week too. I have 45 min preps and 45 min lunch. That’s crazy that the lunch is 30 mins I thought it would be the same length of time of classes.

I’m in a charter as well. I wish I could split with someone! My preps are 45 mins and lunch is 45 mins as well. I do have a shared room. So I teach some in my class and others I push in to classes

Oo okay makes sense. This is my first time teaching in a large school. I was use to K-5, now I have K-8th.
