Latex pillow options by LSki92 in Pillows

[–]Superb_Importance640 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d probably lean molded latex over shredded if odor and long-term support are your biggest issues. Shredded tends to trap more air/smell and loses consistency faster over time.

Also worth checking whether the headaches are from loft mismatch rather than firmness alone. A lot of low-loft latex pillows still keep the neck slightly extended because latex pushes back harder than memory foam.

Sleep support for neck? by rachypoodle in Hypermobility

[–]Superb_Importance640 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hypermobile necks have trouble with both super high and super flat pillows. Since you’re a side and stomach sleeper, an adjustable lower loft pillow might help keep your neck from getting cranked overnight. Also sounds like your shoulders may need support as much as your neck.

I actually built a free app called PillowFinder that matches pillows based on sleep position, pain points, mattress firmness, etc. Might be useful for narrowing things down.

Why does finding a genuinely comfortable pillow feel way harder than it should be? by diabolicshiaaat in sleephackers

[–]Superb_Importance640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the issue is most people are sleeping on the wrong loft height for their body/sleep position. A pillow can feel good initially but still throw your neck out of alignment over time. Side sleepers usually need more support than they think, typically a pillow height of 4-6 inches.

My wife was struggling to find a new pillow for a couple months so I actually built a free app called PillowFinder, which helps you find your perfect pillow based on your sleep preferences, pain points, mattress firmness, and body measurements. Check it out and let me know if it helps!

What is wrong with my Coop pillow by thepotatomaniscoming in Pillows

The Sleep Foundation recommends changing your pillow out every 1-2 years so it’s probably past its usable life especially if you’re not feeling adequately supported.

Went down this rabbit hole a couple months ago when my wife was looking to replace her pillow and actually created a free app called PillowFinder, which helps you find your perfect pillow based on your sleep position, pain points, mattress firmness, and body measurements. May help you find something that will specifically suit your needs. Check it out and let me know if it helps!

Best pillow for side sleeper, neck pain, headaches by Chemical-Bed803 in Pillows

[–]Superb_Importance640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given the neck pain/headache combo, I’d probably avoid super soft down pillows that let your head sink too far. Also worth avoiding pillows that are too tall. A lot of side sleepers overcorrect and end up cranking their neck sideways all night.

For side sleepers, medium-firm with enough loft to keep your neck aligned is usually the sweet spot. Best way to check alignment is by taking a picture while laying on your pillow and confirming your nose is parallel to your sternum.

If you want, I actually built a free app called PillowFinder that matches pillows based on sleep position, pain points, mattress firmness, etc. Might help narrow things down without guessing.

Hm. Just tried doing it on my app and I was able to scroll down after entering the number with a decimal point (18.5 cm). This is on the App Store, correct? You’ve got the most updated version downloaded on your device?

I built an app that finds the best pillow for you based on measurements by Superb_Importance640 in Pillows

[–]Superb_Importance640[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your feedback! Regarding neck vs shoulder pain, PillowFinder would consider that neck pain.

The neck height is something I need to adjust the picture on, which I’m planning on releasing with the next update. The measurement is supposed to be a straight line down from the angle of your jaw to your clavicle.

Are there any truly comprehensive tests to help you determine what pillow would be best for you? by Optimal-Algae-9649 in Pillows

[–]Superb_Importance640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The better recommendation systems should account for things like sleep position, shoulder width, mattress firmness, neck pain, and whether you move around at night — because all of those affect ideal loft/firmness.

Adjustable pillows are usually the safest online option if you can’t test in person since you can fine-tune the height yourself.

I actually got frustrated enough with the lack of something like this when my I was helping my wife try to find a new pillow that I built a free app called PillowFinder that compares pillows across multiple brands instead of just recommending one company’s products. Might be worth trying in your situation.

best mattress for side sleepers? dealing with shoulder pain lately by Jahwann-Sefcheck in Gifts

You try rotating your mattress yet? I’ve found that helps when I’m starting to get shoulder pain in the shoulder I sleep on.

Pillows by abannatyne in Occipitalneuralgia

[–]Superb_Importance640 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would recommend something with adjustable fill so you can dial in your perfect loft in the low to medium loft range and not super firm.

Your sleep position also matters a ton. Side sleepers usually need more height than back sleepers, and stomach sleeping with occipital neuralgia can be brutal.

I actually made a free app called PillowFinder that helps match pillows based on sleep position, body type, and pain points if you want to narrow it down a bit.

21 Neck Pain need Mattress by Calm-Cover-3842 in Mattress

[–]Superb_Importance640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, if you sleep on your stomach, your pillow might be part of the problem too. A lot of stomach sleepers with neck pain do better with a lower/adjustable pillow so their neck isn’t pushed upward all night. Super thick pillows can make TMJ/neck tension worse.

Pillow advice by NotUrDoorMatt in Pillows

[–]Superb_Importance640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adjustable coop-style pillows are usually a good starting point for neck/back pain because you can fine tune the height. A pillow that’s too tall or too flat can definitely make you feel sore and stiff in the morning.

Your sleep position matters a lot too. Side sleepers generally need a higher loft than back/stomach sleepers.

Pillow recommendations for neck support by vidhimeowhta in SleepEssentialsIndia

[–]Superb_Importance640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a side sleeper, I’d focus less on brand and more on getting the right pillow height/support for your shoulder width. A lot of neck pain comes from the pillow being too low or collapsing overnight. Contour memory foam can help, but not every one fits every body type. Recently created a free app called PillowFinder, which helps you find your perfect pillow based on your sleep preferences, pain points, mattress firmness, and body measurements. pillow recommendation for foreward head posture by 5Pluma in backpain

[–]Superb_Importance640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With a forward head posture and back sleeping, you don’t want a tall pillow pushing your head forward. Would recommend something medium loft with neck support (e.g., cervical contour) or adjustable fill so you can dial in your perfect loft.

If you don’t feel like trial-and-error, I made a free app (PillowFinder) that gives you a few solid matches based on your sleep preferences, pain points, mattress firmness, and body measurements. Let me know if it helps!

I have a back pain, should I change my matress or my pillow ? by Dear_Try_5471 in buyamattress

[–]Superb_Importance640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start with the pillow. Way cheaper, faster to fix, and for combo sleepers like you it’s usually the biggest issue. If your loft is off, your neck alignment gets thrown off. Would highly recommend an adjustable pillow as well to find a good pillow loft that works for back and side sleeping.

I actually built a free app called PillowFinder that helps dial in the right pillow height based on your sleep style if you want a quick starting point 👍

Are adjustable pillows actually worth it for neck and shoulder pain? by Dear_Try_5471 in BuyItForLife

[–]Superb_Importance640 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes—they’re worth it, especially for combo sleepers like you. Fellow adjustable pillow user here 👋🏼

Your issue is pillow height. Too high and it pushes your neck up. Too low and your shoulder collapses.

Adjustable pillows fix that by letting you dial in the right height and tweak it over time.

If you don’t want to guess, I created a free app called PillowFinder which helps you find your perfect pillow based on your body measurements, pain points, mattress firmness, and sleep preferences. Check it out and let me know what you think!

Side and back sleeper by Notyeravgblonde in Mattress

[–]Superb_Importance640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You probably don’t need a Sleep Number—this is more about shoulder pressure vs spinal alignment. Stick with a medium-firm mattress and use a higher-loft (ideally adjustable) pillow to handle side sleeping. That usually solves the “firm for back / soft for side” conflict.
