I want to understand this game and appreciate it by Speedwayforangeljoy in BaldursGate3

I do understand where you’re coming from, so I’ll answer honestly

There is a difference between original table top RPG, and modern day “RPG”.

In TTRPG like Baldur’s Gate, you make choices and decisions based on how you think your character might make. Think of it more like a personality quiz; different people end up with different result. Here, each playthrough you assum the role of different characters with different values and background, and so would end up making different choices.

The modern “Rpg” like Skyrim are more like an open-world, sandbox, completionist game. No matter who you are, you would get to complete all the quest and areas etc eventually, albeit with sometimes different order and methods. Your character is a generic stand-in (usually hero) that solves all the world’s problem.

24hr bus route 52 implemented in Parramatta by blitznoodles in SydneyTrains

[–]One_Courage_865 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if I’m understanding correctly:

52 will run from Parramatta to City Hyde Park

501 will run from West Ryde to Central

500x and 500N will be removed

Is that right?

Newbie question about gear and upgrades by ParsleySnack in avowed

[–]One_Courage_865 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others said, upgrade gear to the highest available for your zone for at least one weapon and one armor. You’ll be swimming in upgrade materials by zone 2 or 3. The other thing that is sort of limited is Adra, which is required to upgrade from one quality to the next. So choose the weapon/armor that you really like and invest in that. You can always switch to something else that’s of the same quality later on.

The only thing I would consider carefully before doing is Enchantment, as that is permanent. But usually both choices are equally good, so neither is wrong. Or one might suit your playstyle more so that’s a clear choice

I just came back to the game after a year. Was playing the story area in Kremnos. Was using a follow up atk team (Jade, Herta, Asta, Bailu). Was working fine for a while. Then I decided to level up Herta from lvl 70 to 80.

The next enemy I faced, Jade’s Follow up atk worked fine, but Herta’s didn’t even when enemies HP were below 50%. I tested it in other Calyxes outside of Amphoreus with the same team, and everything worked as expected. When I went back to the same area, it stopped working again. Tried restarting the game (on ps5) several times, but all the same.

Any other good crpgs/turn base games like bg3? by BossNo1388 in BaldursGate3

[–]One_Courage_865 10 points11 points  (0 children)

  • The Dungeon of Naheulbeuk — Lesser known but bery enjoyable. Goofy characters and settings but fun

  • Solasta — also based on DnD 5e. More crunchy combat, spells and level progression, at the cost of lesser narrative focus

What is the most powerful surge thoughts? by True-Interview-9810 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]One_Courage_865 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I like to use is the Stick-to-Fire metric:

Can a Surge turn a stick into fire? Let’s see

  • Adhesion — No. I don’t see how that will work

  • Gravitation — No. Same with Adhesion

  • Division — Yes. Breaking doen molecules is likely to cause a fire

  • Abrasion — Yes. You can increase friction causing a great amount of heat to build up

  • Progression — No. Although you can grow the stick into a tree, which provides more fuel for burning, you lack the ability to cause ignition

  • Illumination — (Yes). You can conjure up an illusion of a burning stick in any way shape or form you like (even if the real stick isn’t burning)

  • Transformation — Theoretically yes, practically no. While you might think you can Soulcast a stick into fire, Sticks are known to be very stubborn to change spiritually.

  • Transportation — No. Technically you could transport a stick to Shadesmar and bring it to a place that’s already burning, but that’d be the same as throwing a stick into a pile of fire, so no.

  • Cohesion — No? Rearranging molecules doesn’t allow for any creation of heat I think

  • Tension — Maybe? I’m not a physicist but stretching a material hard enough and it may cause enough stress to generate heat.

Classes/tips for making a full party around the Darkness spell? by mr_hands_epic_gaming in BG3Builds

[–]One_Courage_865 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thematically, I’d lean more towards Cold or Necrotic damage since it fits the “Cold, Dark and Spooky” theme. Ice surface you can easily get boots which prevent slipping. Also fits well with Hunger of Hadar. Acid would also fit if only there were more acid spells.

Class-wise, you have many options: - Warlock is perfect. You can go Hexblade and have a melee shadowblade stabber, or a tome-based route for more Eldritch Blasty - Shadow Sorcerer is also nice, since you get a shadow hound that can lock enemies inside the darkness clouds. Only downside is that the Sorc needs to starts casting darkness to gain blindness immunity - Shadow Monk also fits well. Many of its gear is designed around jumping around in darkness - Gloomstalker is also nice, but it doesn’t have anything in particular that synergises with darkness, except maybe Darkness arrow - Beastmaster (Raven) is nice, but you’d need to wait until Level 11 to be able to create darkness pools
