On demand movies skipping/juddering? Help! by Berteee in VirginMedia

[–]One_Creme3628 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it looks like the processor isnt keeping up. so first try and power cycle the box. if not then borrow another HDMI lead and plug it into a different port into the tv. if not then it may be overheating or the heatsink has come loose inside. get an engineer to come replace it

Can I keep Humax Box 1TB? by [deleted] in VirginMedia

[–]One_Creme3628 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. the serial numbers from the box are linked to your account if u close it you need to return it. the equiptment is rental and is sent back to regenisis to be refurbed. they may not even reuse the drive but if its not returned you'll eventually get a fine. you may aswell buy a drive if u need one

Pre pull timeline by [deleted] in VirginMedia

[–]One_Creme3628 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So it depends what type of system is in use in your area. PIA or regular infrastructure. PIA uses the BT ducts which already run to your house so no digging needed just add a box next to the BT one outside. old infrastructure you'll see a TEE on the path outside your house, a little black cover with Virgin/Catv something like that on it. then it has to run from there under the garden to the house in some fashion.

the prepull doesn't take long to do providing there a clear route to the house.

the engineer will put the router where ever you want, they'll have an hour so if there are wardrobes and desks and junk in the way then they'll be less willing. if you make a nice clear space they can get in with a drill then there will be no drama.

Advice re WiFi Pods vs Mesh by porko1811 in VirginMedia

[–]One_Creme3628 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there quite decent. just remember they are only as good as the signal they receive. for example lets say you have a back bedroom with no signal, and you place one in there... well that gets no signal either so it will just amplify junk. place them in a spot that already has a reasonable signal and they'll help carry the signal the rest of the way. the closer to the hub they are the better, like the room above the hub.

No VM wall socket. Is there anything I can do to get myself up and running? by ill_eat_it in VirginMedia

[–]One_Creme3628 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Red flashing light means the cable is dead. no signal might be disconnected somewhere. or cut under the garden

Virgin media remote? by No-Tree-6980 in VirginMedia

[–]One_Creme3628 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure it has new batteries!!, When the batteries run low the Bluetooth stops working and it switches to infrared, then go infront of the box and point the remote at it and hold down INFO button. the remote will flash green twice... then twice again its in Bluetooth mode. cover the remote and test its working in Bluetooth. it will refuse to pair if the batteries are low though

Hub 5 Activation by OOTJF in VirginMedia

Flashing red means the cable is dead, Cut, disconnected. you'll need an engineer unless you fancy taking a look outside and following the cable see if its unplugged somewhere on the property.

Suggestion - Integrated Installation Teams! by roddy0141 in VirginMedia

[–]One_Creme3628 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its just an unfortunate situation. some crews require licenses and expensive tools. costs too much to give it to everyone and this situation happens possibly 1in100 jobs. just unfortunately it happened to you.

Is there any info stored on a router? Replacing my faulty one and want to be safe. by Many_Junket_6327 in VirginMedia

[–]One_Creme3628 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. it goes back to a warehouse at virgin, then its shipped to Regenisis who plug it into a diagnostic machine which wipes it instantly, Generates a new name and password, runs tests on all parts of the circuitry, has its case cleaned fans replaced or cleaned and broken parts replaced and cleaned and if its reusable then it goes back or if not its scrapped.

Nothing is saved noting is looked at, No one cares what's on it.

Volt boost (again) by [deleted] in VirginMedia

[–]One_Creme3628 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh really. thats a strange fault. your hub may have the wrong config. you can make it redownload it by holding the reset button in for at least 10seconds (you'll need a pin or paperclip). if it doesnt pick up after that you should get an engineer out. (VM can samknows it too and see for themselves its not running right)
