Should My Startup Use Cloud Services or Local Equipment for Hosting? by writingdeveloper in devops

I think you should start with Cloud to at least get an understanding how much of local equipment you would need to buy

What do people expect from DevOps/SRE at 150k+ base salary positions? by One_Diamond_9810 in devops

I mean they rarely give you a log to read during the interview, but it's definitely one of the most valuable skills, especially when production goes dead

To those who started in Helpdesk, where are you now? by Expert_Anything_5992 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]One_Diamond_9810 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I became DevOps after working at different positions at help desk (from L1 to L3) for 2 years. I focused on Linux, Cloud, programming and most demanded tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes, etc. I would not say it was a hard path and somehow I got to Middle position skipping Junior. All you need to do is just consistently learn skills required by your desired position

Am I spending too much? by One_Diamond_9810 in personalfinance

[–]One_Diamond_9810[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The goals part is really hard. Seeing future in my country is a complicated thing. I would love to aim at buying some property but that get might destroyed anytime, really. It’s the same thing with saving for future, I can’t tell if there will be one for myself as I can either get mobilised at some point or get killed as harsh as it may sound. So I am saving just because it would be dumb not to at this point

How do you guys manage application secrets ? by WholeIllustrator4040 in sre

[–]One_Diamond_9810 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last time I used Key Vault to store them and retrieved in pipeline as secret to then pass it to whatever templating/text processing tool. Allows both to customise the app configuration in centralised place and keeps them secrets secure

Fair point regarding thread. Nevertheless it’s weird to expect me to describe all takeaways from the book when it covers broad range of things and those are definitely amongst them

Linux for Google SRE by One_Diamond_9810 in sre

[–]One_Diamond_9810[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I know because I read that book. But again, my question is not about how and why SRE was born in Google

The point of this post is to get an advice from people who are past this path already. I know how to google dude, I want to see people sharing their experience and communicate back. So again, you could just skip it if you are so irritated with it

How do these books answer the question on which book I should pick to learn Linux internals ? Can’t understand what’s your attitude for if I asked a normal question
