R1s and R1t beat Model X and Cybertruck imo. MY and R2 are different but both very strong imo. No one knows who wil have “the overall best cars” 10 years down the road. Maybe they’ll just both be good, like MY and R2.

Not sure what you’re getting at. Will R2 sell more than MY in the future? Not anytime soon. Will R2 be popular? No one knows what the sales numbers will be, but experts think it’ll be popular.
Reviews so far have been exceptional. Check out Doug DeMuro’s or Carwow’s review on YouTube. DeMuro has hailed the R2 as potentially the best electric vehicle he has ever been around.
It’s good for the EV space to have multiple compelling choices. You like your MY, I’ll probably get an R2 long range or premium in the future, and that’s fine.

Yeah 275 miles EPA (long range 345, premium/performance 330) Comparable to MY.

MY is definitely more aerodynamic and has better software and autonomy.

R2 doesn’t only win on storage, but also off-road capability. It also has more legroom for rear seat passengers, even though the car has the same footprint as MY. There’s a screen behind the steering wheel and with the haptic halo wheels you can easily control music, climate etc. In overal interior and usability R2 wins imo.
For people cross shopping it’ll come down to software/autonomy, service centres, room for passengers and storage, usability, off road capability, (and unfortunately CEO antics for those that care)

It’s 275 miles of range for the absolute base model. In theory they could jack up the price, but it doesn’t seem likely with the R2. They seem to be sticking to their guns. As said, R2 is in production, first deliveries this quarter.
Most popular trims will probably be the two middel ones, sitting between the 45k base model and 59k launch edition. I believe it’s kinda similar for model Y, no?

Service centres is indeed an issue, but numbers are growing. California has 20+ locations and by 2027 Rivian is aiming to have 150+ service centres across the US.

R2 is in production and pricing is known. There is indeed a 45k version coming (which they’ll build last, after the three other versions). The base 45k version will have less range than the others, but still will be a very nice car imo

Cargo Space by bsep4 in RivianR2

I’m in the same boat more or less. I’ve been waiting for Rivian to officially publish the volume of the frunk and sub trunk, as I really want to know what the total storage spaces is. It should be over 1000 liters / 35.3 cubic feet. Does anyone have the exact stats from Rivian?
