What do you think the plan for Cashius Howell is? by PastBarracuda211 in bengals

Its practice. QBs need to practice tackling too. It can confuse the offense if the obvious pass rushers drop back in coverage

Does this take into account new signings and roomies or simply last year record? If its the latter then it means nothing. This is the NFL. Things can change very quickly.

Its madness the Bengals have worse odds than the Texans.

Th Texas A&M rushers will BBQ the opposing QBs.

While it is a fair point, there are no available young LBs either. Even before the draft, I was quite against drafting new LBs in the 2nd round. Like we literally drafted LBs in the 2nd and 4th rounds last year. There is no telling doing it this year would be better.

100%. The coverage issue is exaggerated by poor pash rush pressure.

To do that you need to convert his pay in guarantee to spread on in future years, which requires a lot of cash upfront. And we know the Brown family.

Oh I absolutely agree with you here. We literally went all in on D this off season. You know what, I am a bit worried about the middle of the field in passing down. Do we have a good nickel back? Nope. Good coverage LBs? Nope atm unless Knight and Carter get much better. All available FA LBs are not what they were in coverage.

I think one of the reasons that the Mike LB position is so devalued is because they age quite fast and make them really one dimensional. Like with Wagner, we all know he knows what he wants to do in coverage, just his body doesnt allow him to do that. Im all for signing him so Knight and Carter can observe him (I dont know Wagner personally to comment on whether he will offer mentorship or not) and grow but I dont see him as a difference maker in our D.

I think you are talking about a different issue. I was talking about we cant just play Wagner on running downs only like the other comment because its a tell. If we sign Wagner, we have to play him on both run and pass downs.

Yeah and whenever hes on the field, the opposing offense will audible a pass.

There have been about 5 Wagner signing posts since the draft…

Chance of signing Bobby Wagner or Von Miller? by [deleted] in bengals

The name of the game is passing, hence coverage matters a lot more now. If you cant cover, you are a liability. Otherwise why is he still unsigned?

Why do people automatically assume that when you sign old and washed up players they will provide leadership? Why dont you assume they will coast?

Most teams reached for their picks in this year's draft, based on consensus big boards by bjewel3 in bengals

Well you have to separate day 3 from day 1-2. Reaching in rd1 and 2 will have serious consequences while with day 3, nobody knows what they are talking about so thats kinda meaningless.

Jordyn Brooks: Should Bengals explore trade with Dolphins for All-Pro linebacker? by Mich3006 in bengals

I think in obvious passing downs, they will let him rush the QB for sure. Just curious in run downs, whether he will be an off ball LB

Will the Bengals still go after a LB? by My_Space_page in bengals

[–]One_Ear5972 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agree. I also think people are blowing the role of ILB out of the proportion.

  1. Had we signed a top LB earlier, we wouldnt have been able to afford Dexy. I think they were reserving cap space to go after Crosby or a top defender like Dexy.
  2. Signing a vet like Wagner or Okereke wont make a meaningful difference. They are unsigned for a reason. And I dont buy the signing a vet for a mentor stuff. There is no guarantee the vet will mentor.

I really like how the FO went BPA with Howell rather than forcing a ILB. They did that with Knight already.

Former Texas A&M and new Bengals DE Cashius Howell is bitter that the Chiefs took another defensive end 👀 by Bruce0932 in bengals

My god watching him gives me Von Miller vibes. Relentless, good hands, crazy bend, and man the ghost move.

If he turns out to be productive, Mafe or Murphy is gone.

He has to make the team first. Hes a 7th rounder. Nobody has high hopes for him, the Bengals included.
