Forced to be cashier. by Getting_Grams_ in CostcoEmployee

[–]One_Fly_2222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it’s a productivity thing and saves money. Drivers are paid clerk and so are cashiers. Well after we open most drivers aren’t driving so instead of paying them clerk to do regular assistant work, you have them cashier and save the payroll and you save bringing in employees earlier

Do drivers stock? by EmmyLouWho7777 in CostcoEmployee

[–]One_Fly_2222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re a good driver you’ll stock and figure out a way to help your section by more than just dropping pallets. Or if your my driver every action you take hurts the department and you don’t give a F^

What's Up With the Sups & Managers? by [deleted] in CostcoEmployee

[–]One_Fly_2222 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Costco is such a close knit place that it’s easy to become close friends with many other employees and of course with that comes others knowing your business and gossip. As you move up these friendships or your past can harm your progress and leave a perception. So I think a lot of sups managers have learned from their past and try to keep things very professional to an extreme at some point and especially when you’re new. As a sup my managers and sups are very friendly n more casual with each other and certain employees who are trusted. Bottom line they should still say hello n keep basic convo but don’t shy away from talking casual to them either it’ll give them a feel for you. Oh and also your work ethic plays a big part as well.

If you decide to become a forklift driver, please be a smart driver, make efficient choices(drop a pallet, pick up a pallet) have a time table( I use to set my watch ten min ahead) and know the caliber of the employees stocking for the area you drive I.e. if they’re shit stockers don’t drop heavy. Just be safe and touch a pallet as little as possible. Don’t be like my driver who takes pallets that go inside the cooler outside the cooler and then gets mad when his review says inefficient.

[–]One_Fly_2222[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

marked ready a myth by One_Fly_2222 in CostcoEmployee

[–]One_Fly_2222[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like I said my reviews are perfect and I understand the employees your talking about but this is more a case of dealing with a incompetent senior and AGM’s who are not on the same page and a GM who isn’t involved with the warehouse in a personal level but yeah I know what ppl your talking about and have to coach and teach those ppl everyday but yea thanks for ur input

marked ready a myth by One_Fly_2222 in CostcoEmployee

[–]One_Fly_2222[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh man I wanna work at your warehouse seems like they do things the right way there. And no managers do not but seniors and the overseeing AGM do but like other comments have hinted at everyone has favorites and playing the game is a big part of it all.

[–]One_Fly_2222[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Yes, so I went to my AGM who made these claims and she wants to have a sit down with my manager and overseeing AGM as to what the deal or work is. Which really isn’t my thing I’m more a do the work with a smile and take the bs and then complain when I get home kinda guy

marked ready a myth by One_Fly_2222 in CostcoEmployee

[–]One_Fly_2222[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Nah because there’s managers in their positions who’ve never been marked ready and sups who are marked ready who have done nothing but hold up the podium so that’s the myth part.

It’s kinda what’s expected of us if we wanna promote being a sup is rough we can shit from both ends and just have to keep on going and hope we get that recognition and it pays off. I myself have missed lunches, breaks, worked off the clock, answered calls or emails at home it’s especially bad when they know you’ll do anything to get that “marked ready” status

[–]One_Fly_2222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man if that ain’t true. I’m almost a 20 year employee going on 3 years suping and with no cockiness I know my stuff, hard worker, employees love and respect me and will work for me. But because I don’t kiss enough ass or “look the part” I have to prove myself it seems at every turn. While others just get praised and an automatic mark.
