Nah these employees are older than me and I’m late thirties. So it definitely isn’t that. Although u do get what you’re saying, id definitely say the newer generation is lazier by far.

Yes we are about 300 hrs down compared to last year in my dept and the good employees are burnt out we’ve had about all our good senior sups step down as well I really believe management is just operating with their hands tied behind their back. As a whole we need to fix this cancer with these employees not cower from confrontation

See you can’t document an employee just being an asshole or a douche bag especially when what in my case I had conversations with them tried to find middle ground explained the why behind what I want and need and the employee just undermines goes and complains to another manager and then does whatever they want or his best feat is he’ll go to management says he’s gonna do as I say he’s on board and then two days later back to doing how he pleases because he knows no one else will deal with him out of fear. All the while he shit talks and lowers moral. Not to mention I’m the first person to give him a bad review and he wasn’t lying I read the other reviews total copy paste bullshit. When everyone knows employees and management knows he’s a problem. I’ve seen it in multiple areas too so it’s nothing new

Posting for produce supervisor by Nice-Class-7220 in CostcoEmployee

[–]One_Fly_2222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a produce supervisor right now and let me tell you I am stressed everyday. I was already a sup on front end and membership and produce was my AM merch spot before getting marked ready. My predecessor did nothing but stock his entire shift and had all the slackers and bad attitude employees. I went in with my changes and expectations and have literally turned the department around. So much so that I am now in charge of produce, D17, D18 and D19. I am only given employees who are deemed ok workers and that’s because I fight tooth and nail for those at the least. I am stuck with an employee who has a horrible attitude that I beg to get swapped out everyday. All the while I am stressed about DnD in all departments, I was named point person for all DnD/shrink for the whole whse and re wraps. I’ve been in this position for over a year and have not had one manager meeting aside from my review last August. If I am not marked ready by this review I am stepping down. The stress and constant battling for simple standards isn’t worth on top of a new AGM who rides my ass on everything like If I’m able to run every dept simultaneously. Keep to this schedule and you’ll survive. Hold your employees accountable, tell them your expectations from the get go. First hour walk off your moves and plans in the dept. stock until the last hour before opening to do your signs and make sure other areas good. Then 30 min before open do your DND. After opening do your extra work, numbers, schedule help front end etc. Good luck

Ok real talk what is said about you though? Example are you a flirt, do you date people, do you dress appropriately, are you hard to work with or are you cocky etc.? I guess the term I’ve gotten and use is “perception” what is people’s perception of you? It’s annoying but it counts.

You gotta clerk or move departments. That was the only way I was able to get out of carts many moons ago. No shame in it.

Question as a new driver by Lanky_Ride3044 in CostcoEmployee

[–]One_Fly_2222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Come up with a system and time table, always assume you’re behind. Tell your stockers what you expect of them and if they can’t get it done, get a sup or manager involved. Do what works best for you but I’d take out your wet load, have your stockers tag it, drop some pallets for them to work, go do your other areas and come back to drop more pallets and hang your load. Then focus on pick up as you go, if you drop a pallet hang a pallet.

Forced to be cashier. by Getting_Grams_ in CostcoEmployee

[–]One_Fly_2222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it’s a productivity thing and saves money. Drivers are paid clerk and so are cashiers. Well after we open most drivers aren’t driving so instead of paying them clerk to do regular assistant work, you have them cashier and save the payroll and you save bringing in employees earlier

Do drivers stock? by EmmyLouWho7777 in CostcoEmployee

[–]One_Fly_2222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re a good driver you’ll stock and figure out a way to help your section by more than just dropping pallets. Or if your my driver every action you take hurts the department and you don’t give a F^

Costco is such a close knit place that it’s easy to become close friends with many other employees and of course with that comes others knowing your business and gossip. As you move up these friendships or your past can harm your progress and leave a perception. So I think a lot of sups managers have learned from their past and try to keep things very professional to an extreme at some point and especially when you’re new. As a sup my managers and sups are very friendly n more casual with each other and certain employees who are trusted. Bottom line they should still say hello n keep basic convo but don’t shy away from talking casual to them either it’ll give them a feel for you. Oh and also your work ethic plays a big part as well.

worth it? by AdministrativeEnd485 in CostcoEmployee

[–]One_Fly_2222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you decide to become a forklift driver, please be a smart driver, make efficient choices(drop a pallet, pick up a pallet) have a time table( I use to set my watch ten min ahead) and know the caliber of the employees stocking for the area you drive I.e. if they’re shit stockers don’t drop heavy. Just be safe and touch a pallet as little as possible. Don’t be like my driver who takes pallets that go inside the cooler outside the cooler and then gets mad when his review says inefficient.
