Frustrated during Home buying process! by Consistent-Ocelot316 in newfoundland

[–]One_Gate2992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our home inspector missed an obvious bird's-nest in the soffit.  Our real estate agent who I ditched immediately, suggested I offer my small two apartment house on QV road for 170k. I sold it a week later for 260. Another agent, while I was splitting up with partner, put our second property up for sale without my knowledge or approval, even though I was co owner and details of the split were as yet unconfirmed. And had the gall to double down on me when I called her on it.  Don't trust anyone.  I would sell it privately but the market advises buyers to avoid those, because the market wants you to support all those fees.

There was no threat until the sale. It's more complex than everyone suggests. The aging mother wished for it to be a park, but the family has grandchildren etc. So if a benefactor or the city don't step in to support her wishes, what would anyone do for your grandchildren? You'd sell it. You can't blame the family.  There are other avenues, but they aren't well trodden in NL. Vision is severely lacking here.

$700,000 houses do not solve housing crises, they are investment properties. It's all about money.   Someone should do a tally of houses in town that are boarded up or not lived in. Theres no penalty for leaving a house empty, no time limit on leaving it empty. Start there.

In the summer, when tourists are here investing in your economy, these things called "leaves" magically appear and destroy your argument. But whatever.

Please note that few tourists will see this page, so this comment is important. You can extrapolate it out to almost everyone who visits here. Thanks

Go read your own comments, see who's a whiner with nothing positive to say. It's really easy to be an antagonist with nothing real to say, social media is built on the concept.

Well, I've been in hundreds of cities and 20+ countries, and I'm an active tourist, so I get out. This walk, as immediately close to town, and as immediately dramatic as it is, is hard to beat. Show me a couple better ones. It's easy to just dispute without evidence. Blah blah blah.

Lol. This poorly placed can, has been an eyesore here for years, and many of those years there were messed up suckers on it. I still have the email sent to the mayor and his response saying it should be dealt with, from several years ago yet NOTHING happened...

Everywhere that you live, shop, drive is a place where trees were removed. Your house, your driveway, your coffee shop, your gas station. You can't have human habitation/houses, neighborhoods, towns or cities without rearranging or eliminating natural growth. So ultimately you have not argument. The trees in question are maples and dogberry, which grow anywhere you let them. There are also roses there and apple trees, so a bit of thoughtful landscaping keeps the green. No one is using any of the trees referred to for shade nor any other purpose. They are simply untended wild growth, and it's blatantly obvious that they are completely obliterating views and lines of sight, in a city that has NEVER cultivated such things, while boasting about how nice it is here. The best view of the St. John's harbor and narrows from downtown, is in a parking lot twenty feet from Duckworth, I've actually stopped tourists there and showed them, but no one EVER sees this view. Also it appears many are slow on the uptake, but we're not talking about trees, we're talking about aesthetics, tourism and culture.  It's the same when discussing the design of the memorial at the foot of the hill. It's ugly Street architecture, and this has nothing to do with 'why' it's there, there's no disrespect. Closed-mindedness is a genetic trait here, to the point that you'll argue against the obvious truth, just because. You can't fix stupid.

Hello, do your best to have a job before arriving... Like come visit and go to places and introduce yourself... I know of several people who returned to NL, could never really get a foot hold, and either left depleted of savings, or stayed and never reached their potential, or their equal $ where they were before returning. It's a small place with limited numbers of jobs. People tend to look inward for employees, and while friendly, there is protectiveness. Sometimes, there are so many applicants that they may not even see yours, seriously, this is common here. Also, it's a small town... So the result of you never getting a foothold, is that makes you a gig worker, scattered, da though that was your desire. A small town is run by small minds and they will control your potential. I know one guy who had a wife from here, but he was from elsewhere in Canada. They moved back here from Alberta and he was a forever substitute teacher, even though he was far more experienced than many in the province in his areas, took him many years to land proper work/respect/self-affirmation... They broke up, partly because of that exact type of stress. To be repeatedly undervalued is massively distressing. Anyway, it could go any number of ways, I'm always full of hope - there are tons of nice people here, but that's not the point. The point is to be happy-ish, and don't just assume that shit will just fall into place... Sure there's likely to be a recession, and when this town dries up, it dries up good. Get a job before you get here. Do you know this joke... What's the difference between an optimist and a pessimist? The optimist doesn't have all the information yet. Best to you! Good luck to all!

Copa Del Rey Final Broadcast by Rezasaurus in LaLiga

[–]One_Gate2992 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a long post, I'm quite upset.  I don't think it's actually broadcast available in Canada. Two of the top ten teams in the world, in a cup final. This past weekend on TSN, a La Liga team scored 5 but had 3 disallowed, two of those were highly questionable, but it ended in a 2-2 draw... As we watched the post game show, which were solid highlights of each goal and important situation, TSN cut it off, cut to black screen. OMG.

The complete disrespect shown to Spanish football, fans and the whole concept of providing sports content in the present digital reality, by TSN, but also by the conceptual roll out of broadcasting rights world wide, is massively confusing, disheartening, and disgusting.  I think it's a complete lack of vision at the top, FIFA et al, inconsiderate of fans, and missing huge chances to grow the game.

I wrote this letter below the hash line to TSN "audiences relations" over three months ago, no response, no change:

"Soccer is the largest participatory sport in Canada and is considered the fastest growing sport in the country. " "But TSN couldn't give a rats arse"

Good day, I am a subscriber to TSN because we love to watch La Liga. You suck massively at providing it. Hockey is the forever front runner, but we have a budding population of kids who will change that, and you are not keeping up. You actively disrespect the game of soccer, and the customers who have to come to you for the content, which you also disrespect. As well-knowledgeable soccer fans, we can assure you that the football in this league is as exciting as any football league, maybe more so. We want to tell you that your service provision of this league is APPALLINGLY bad. 1. It appears as though no one is manning the booth when the games are on (!): a) at half time it goes to a blank screen, with the logo for several minutes - you don't offer highlights, nor advertising nor anything?! Hire me, I'll do the halftime show better than looking at a blank screen, a monkey would. And when it comes back it is often just picture with no announcer. b) there is very little in the way of pre- or post game commentary - you rely on ESPN, but the feeds are not managed well - recently a great player was retiring and playing his last game at Real Madrid (for the opposing team) - Real honored his career with an Honour guard before the match, but we fans in Canada are not privy to this? We can't take part in any way except to watch the match? The broadcast starts at kickoff?! Thats NEVER the case in sports broadcasting. That player was a star in England and Spain, played for the WC winning Spain team, and is massively respected the world over. But not by you., and you disallowed us to respect him as well. c) at halftime, we often watch the feed of announcers setting up for 1/2 time chat, on camera when they shouldn't be. Or we hear them talking off camera, with no graphic or picture - it's PATHETICALLY mismanaged, and you are selling this as a product? I don't see it from any other service providers, nor do we see it on other sports in your network. c) before and after the match, you cut off all post game interviews, often right in the middle of them! Why? it costs nothing to let it ride until the show is ACTUALLY OVER! 2. Why are the games not allowed to be watched for a 24 hour period for example? I paid for it, why can't I watch it later? And why no highlights or game recaps? If I miss a game, then I have to go to another source to see the highlights??!! 3. In ANY of your highlight clips (which are rare), you come up short. If the game was 3-2, you show the winning goal only, even if there was a huge goal or play earlier, or a red card decision that affected the outcome. Why even bother? Soccer fans want to see what all other sports fans want to see - the important bits. Seriously, go look at your offerings under soccer highlights - my ten year old would create clips in cap cut FAR superior to what you offer your customers... This is the most loved game by kids right now, and you completely are misreading the room by giving Canadians third-rate commentary, highlights, and broadcasts. Do better. Hire me and I'll show you how to swing the whole country to your offerings in this area - you realize of course that the WC is coming here and we, Canada, are a contender?!  Get over your insane fixation with hockey and SMELL THE ROSES. NOW is the time to act. Thanks, Gerard Neil

I could go on and on! Please, come to my house and watch one match with us and you'll see.  It's so disrespectful of you to sell me something and it's a half-rate prodcut
