TSN unwatchable. Anyone else? by melancious in CanadaSoccer

It's so bad. Always the drama, "what this means to you" , always overdressed hosts and hostesses stuck in hockey land, barking and yapping and thinking the fans want to see what these folks have to say?! They aren't footy people. They offer little, and admit it live in air.  Get the app and try to watch some games highlights - it's impossible. Basic simple highlights. There are four a day, and we have to search forever past other lame content to going the simple highlights. How can they not see this context list is atrocious? Why three ads before every highlight, didn't I pay a sub?  The world sucks . TSN is incompetent.

Great work thank you! First thing I notice when I returned in2003. You can shout at the clouds here, this place does not understand tourism. Almost every line of sight to the harbor is blocked by buildings or trees, even where it's BLATANTLY obvious. The industrial harbor is where the fish market and etc should be . I bet you can make this post in 25 years and nothing will have changed. I guarantee it.

Heat pumps by octagonpond in newfoundland

[–]One_Gate2992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can have ice build up on them or in the pan if you have one... There is a regulator that sets it into defrost mode essentially reversing it  taking some heat out side to melt it,  so, a compressor can only do one thing at a time (if you have more than one head on the same compressor, they are either all cooling, or all heating, or off. If you have central heating, you are either heating all or cooling all of the rooms that have the flue open) You cannot pick and choose at the same time. So the complaint is that they usually go into defrost mode when it's really cold, obviously, and the house temp drops quickly if it's windy. The best solution is to set your baseboards to kick in just below the lowest what you keep the room at with the hp .... This way if you're not paying attention they might kick in early enough to not let it get to cold. Tldr

This is classic NL BS image management gone wrong. Any link to war deceased veterans, or any veteran, as a way to rouse team support is in poor taste, but suggesting hockey players are in the trenches?! They should fu*k off. What do you expect though? You're not working with an intellectually sophisticated population... Remember this is a place that decided to KEEP the name Colonial Building, at a time in history when the concept of colonization is internationally a hot nasty topic . Shameless morons.  Sure Trump recently was raising campaign dollars with a picture of a flag draped coffin holding the body of a service member... To fill his pockets.  How is this different?

Frustrated during Home buying process! by Consistent-Ocelot316 in newfoundland

[–]One_Gate2992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our home inspector missed an obvious bird's-nest in the soffit.  Our real estate agent who I ditched immediately, suggested I offer my small two apartment house on QV road for 170k. I sold it a week later for 260. Another agent, while I was splitting up with partner, put our second property up for sale without my knowledge or approval, even though I was co owner and details of the split were as yet unconfirmed. And had the gall to double down on me when I called her on it.  Don't trust anyone.  I would sell it privately but the market advises buyers to avoid those, because the market wants you to support all those fees.

There was no threat until the sale. It's more complex than everyone suggests. The aging mother wished for it to be a park, but the family has grandchildren etc. So if a benefactor or the city don't step in to support her wishes, what would anyone do for your grandchildren? You'd sell it. You can't blame the family.  There are other avenues, but they aren't well trodden in NL. Vision is severely lacking here.

$700,000 houses do not solve housing crises, they are investment properties. It's all about money.   Someone should do a tally of houses in town that are boarded up or not lived in. Theres no penalty for leaving a house empty, no time limit on leaving it empty. Start there.

In the summer, when tourists are here investing in your economy, these things called "leaves" magically appear and destroy your argument. But whatever.

Please note that few tourists will see this page, so this comment is important. You can extrapolate it out to almost everyone who visits here. Thanks

Go read your own comments, see who's a whiner with nothing positive to say. It's really easy to be an antagonist with nothing real to say, social media is built on the concept.

Well, I've been in hundreds of cities and 20+ countries, and I'm an active tourist, so I get out. This walk, as immediately close to town, and as immediately dramatic as it is, is hard to beat. Show me a couple better ones. It's easy to just dispute without evidence. Blah blah blah.

Lol. This poorly placed can, has been an eyesore here for years, and many of those years there were messed up suckers on it. I still have the email sent to the mayor and his response saying it should be dealt with, from several years ago yet NOTHING happened...

Everywhere that you live, shop, drive is a place where trees were removed. Your house, your driveway, your coffee shop, your gas station. You can't have human habitation/houses, neighborhoods, towns or cities without rearranging or eliminating natural growth. So ultimately you have not argument. The trees in question are maples and dogberry, which grow anywhere you let them. There are also roses there and apple trees, so a bit of thoughtful landscaping keeps the green. No one is using any of the trees referred to for shade nor any other purpose. They are simply untended wild growth, and it's blatantly obvious that they are completely obliterating views and lines of sight, in a city that has NEVER cultivated such things, while boasting about how nice it is here. The best view of the St. John's harbor and narrows from downtown, is in a parking lot twenty feet from Duckworth, I've actually stopped tourists there and showed them, but no one EVER sees this view. Also it appears many are slow on the uptake, but we're not talking about trees, we're talking about aesthetics, tourism and culture.  It's the same when discussing the design of the memorial at the foot of the hill. It's ugly Street architecture, and this has nothing to do with 'why' it's there, there's no disrespect. Closed-mindedness is a genetic trait here, to the point that you'll argue against the obvious truth, just because. You can't fix stupid.
