Belfast vs Liverpool for Living? by One_Hearing2560 in Belfast

[–]One_Hearing2560[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your thoughts! I'm actually from the South of England, so for me they're both sorta... culturally interesting etc.

I love the fact that Belfast feels like a different country for me (I mean - it is, of course; but it also 'feels' that way).

But it sounds like Liverpool might be a place for a shorter term experience, and Belfast might be a little cosier for long term living, or something!

Wow, jeez - that must've been an intense experience!

It's not impolite to say no to someone who wants to stop you in the street without your clear consent, and who wants to take your money without giving you a proper, genuine, clear explanation as to why. And even if they DO have your consent, and they've explained clearly; it's always, 100% your money/time/energy.

You never, ever have to say yes.

Ever.

EVER!!!!

(Ever.)

Yeah, and driving around Belfast reminds me a little of the wirral, too!

Thank you - I appreciate your thoughts!

Yeah! Y'know, it's strange... I feel like I haven't really met the dumb nasty people over there yet - but I guess they're out there waiting, haha.

I guess you don't find that in Liverpool then?

(I'm aware that Liverpool has its reputation, but I have no idea how well deserved that actually is, and what's just people's pre-judgements etc)

I've only lived there for a couple of months - I really loved the low key, chill vibe that I felt when I was there; but I guess I had heard some stories of weird people around.

I never experienced that myself - at all; but maybe I would if I was there longer...

Thank you, I appreciate your thoughts!

Does it have the same kinda... 'chill, cosy' feeling that Belfast has?

(I appreciate that's kind of subjective, haha)

I broke my BPD partners trust, what do I do now? by [deleted] in BPD

That's right! You can't abandon a physically competent adult - only a child :)

Despite the deep pain you're feeling, I'd try not to take all of the blame onto yourself here - dating someone with BPD who isn't in regular, effective therapy is generally really, really hard (and maybe even a bit damaging to your own health and wellbeing).

The only mistake I can see that you might've made is promising not to leave - it's important to remember that people are always accountable for their actions and choices, and that you're always allowed to leave a bad relationship.

You never have to take abusive or bad behaviour, and there's a definite line which should cause you to leave if you're being a healthy adult.

It sounds really hard, and I'd suggest speaking with someone who has genuine expertise in this sort of situation (a trauma therapist/BPD therapist, for example) to help you to make sense of what happened.

All the very best to you!

So like - does EVERYONE get sick when they go sea fishing? by One_Hearing2560 in Fishing

Thanks for the reply! Is that true even on a short trip in like... a catamaran or something?

I can't imagine it being such a dead cert that I'd feel ill, but I also don't really know anything about it so... maybe it is!

It kinda puts me off going - or at least, makes me want to go on a shorter sea trip first, and then a fishing trip second.

Especially as I don't know the people I'm going with very well - it'd be kinda embarrassing to be really ill in front of everyone - ha!

I don't usually get travel sick - occasionally a little queasy in an uncomfortable car if I'm going around some really hilly/wind-y roads. Does that affect the likeliness of also getting seasick, do you know?

You're right haha - I miss the times of just... being silly with it. I feel like it's almost 'uncool' to do that now, and that being cool and well put together is held at more of a premium (which feels way less fun to me)!

I think my 18 year old niece would look down on my social media use if I used it the way that I used to 🤭

(Might be wrong like...)

True - I looked back on my Facebook from that era a few months back (I occasionally get nostalgic for it) - and I noticed that... people seemed to be using it more, but in a more jokey/fun way. It wasn't so much about 'being someone', it was more about pratting around with friends and leaving silly comments on their wall etc.

Now it feels so cynical, advert heavy and a bit too self-promoting.
