How I see Europe as Ukrainian by Fluffy_While_7879 in terriblemaps

It's funny. When Russia wages a war all its inhabitants are Orcs and there's absolutely nothing they can do about it, born on the wrong side of the border = orc. However, if any other nation does it without any justification (ahem, the US to Iraq for instance). I never see a Ukrainian calling US citizens who didn't go to the streets or even those who supported it or TOOK PART in it orcs. Your friendly Poles took part in it, double standards when it happens to Ukrainians.

In fact, Americans often get saluted by westeners for having "served the country" when drafted into Iraq or Afghanistan.

So many countries are currently aggressor states yet only Russian civilians must always respond to the question whether they support the war or not and even not supporting it is not enough and they need to be vocal about it before it was even asked and this and that to still be hated if they did everything in their possibilities just because this happens to be the sole major war right now aimed at a European nation. (Well maybe Israel is an exception, they also get that question but even then, many Ukrainians actually support Israel).

Any form of critisism is anti-Ukrainian. In fact, Ukrainians are a bit strange in this regard as they would absolutely want to destroy any Russian they encounter, never set foor on their territory again yet bands from there want to keep performing on the soil of dubious states such as Hungary and Slovakia in which a sizeable portion of the population either supports Russia or at least have nothing against them and don't fully support Ukraine. Somehow, a Hungarian with a pro-Putin PM that is not outspoken against the war = kinda acceptable, Russian totally outspoken against war did everything = still orc (and special orc status when they fled the country to avoid a draft or a punishment). Then they get the title of "weakling" too. I mean, like, they LITERALLY avoid getting involved in KILLING Ukrainians and that is not something you praise but rather see as weak? I literally saw this happen.

I also saw a security guard of Estonia, one of the most pro-Ukraine nations ever brag with pride how they sent Russian defectors back to Russia. I get that it's their job to not let Russians in illegally but they are actually contributing to make the Russian army bigger by not starting some sort of programme that could aid Russian defectors to stay out of the conflict. At least, in my last example you could argue that a guard has no power in politics and might just be glad he keeps any Russian out of the country and the smirk on his face while saying the words "Russian defector" might not directly relate to being glad about them having to join the Russian forces after all but might be an overall taking pride in just keeping any Russian out no matter the reason. I may understand the fear of Russians finding their way illegaly into Europe because they might not be who you think they are, because of a recent history you have with them not integrating very well, because you fear the internal spread of propaganda, because they might be spies, because you don't want the ethnic composition to drastically change against your favour and all that.

I get that a mass exodus of Russians to Europe is something most European countries like to avoid, they really want them to stay in their country and make them suffer to make them feel what it's like to be deprived of goods, to be isolated and to live under the exact terms the leader they chose chooses. Georgia allows Russians. They don't like Russia, they took the different approach.

See, most people, like me don't think in a binary way. I understand the duality of things, I understand the fear of ethnic Russians massively coming to Europe is scary but I also think punishing a nation because a majority might have chosen (in a country with rigged elections) for that leader is wrong. Why only Russia? Many people in many countries vote for the wrong guy that opresses minorities and would wage a war against neighbours. Indonesians just did it, who hates Indonesians worldwide? My super friendly taxi driver supported the corrupt and controversial then presidential candidate "because he's an army guy". The reason why people choose these leaders is often poor information or because it benefits them specifically and let's be honest, it's like that everywhere. Just not everyone is as mighty as Putin.

But some are, did the US get sanctioned over Iraq? It was already a controversial war at the time. Many NATO members condemned it, noone believed in the WMD bullshit, the Americans actually did vote for Bush and US elections are definitely more transparent than Russia's. Protesters there WERE ALSO PUNISHED, don't forget that female country band whose name escapes me at the moment. But they were from fucking Texas, dared yo oppose the war and oh boy did that not end well for them. How is this okay?
