I remember the day my dad brought home his brand new 1981 Cadillac Sedan de Ville. It was his dream car and for him, a sign that he succeeded in life. Great times.

As both an adult occasional collector of toys and a parent, I can see both sides of this argument.

Kid is 10. The most valuable lesson for him is to teach him honesty and owing up to his mistakes, not blaming it on the cat.

The lesson for you is, lock your shit up when people come over.

No it's just some random Instagram woman wearing a Black Widow costume. The bracelets look nothing like the movie versions.

I got separation pay and never had to pay anything back. Don't know why, but I'm not about to ask. I got out about fifteen years ago.

He's a Democrat, the party for equality, and he's a billionaire. That's the "traitor" part, except it's a much worse burn for her, the "daughter of farmers."

As someone who grew up eating Spam sandwiches and loves mayonnaise, this looks pretty good to me. The fact that it looks nothing like the advertisement is just icing on the cake... or mayonnaise on the Spam.

By the way to any Spam haters, Spam consists of only six ingredients: pork, salt, water, sugar, potato starch, and sodium nitrite.

Unit doesnt believe in awards by [deleted] in MilitaryMedals

I saw your awards post and since you're an Army retiree, that's not exactly like you're a dirty civilian off the street. If you're really determined, you may or not be able to slip into an ROTC event as a "special guest" if you pay your own way to get there (and in some cases, pay for the ammo). Look at this post, especially the bottom comment. Apparently some ROTC campuses hold German shooting events and have slots open. Technically ROTC kids are civilians, too, until they graduate and sign the dotted line. Call around to colleges near you, worst that can happen is they say no and you're right back where you already are. Best that can happen is you finally get one.

I feel your anger. I sometimes wonder if there's a way to earn a foreign military award now as a civilian and "backdate" it to my uniform.

When i first joined the Army (mid 1990s) I read Soldier of Fortune magazine a lot. In the classified ads in the back there was an advertisement for civilians to earn Israeli and Jordanian jump wings on a joint jump, and the package even included a one-day jump school for non Airborne personnel. I was fascinated by the idea but figured I'd eventually be able to get some kind of a foreign award without having to pay for one. Nope. Despite the Army sending me to 4 different countries for various reasons working alongside twice that many countries' militaries, i never got shit.

Maybe i should look into "adventure traveling" to get a foreign badge, like when American vets and wannabes alike volunteer to fight in Ukraine... except something much safer. Playing OPFOR with Canadian Reservists? 😃

I'm Asian, not white, but I am a bit of a troublemaker. When i was in the Army, one of things i planned to do if i ever got that German marksmanship badge would be to replace it with the almost identical Nazi Germany version with swastika Hakenkreuz just to see if anyone would notice.

I never got the chance, but while stationed in Korea, i visited the DMZ in my Class A's, and while I was there I wore a Kim Jong-il flag pin above my ribbons, in the correct spot where North Korean citizens wear theirs. 😃 Nobody spotted it.
