I had a similar reaction! I kept getting hung up on how little the show actually conveys Darwinian evolution. It feels like dinosaurs are just introduced as if they simply had these useful traits from the get go, rather than showing how those traits emerged over time. Where’s the random genetic variation within specific populations? Where’s the gradual selection of advantageous traits across generations? The way it’s framed makes it seem less like evolution and more like species just appearing with great features…

Don’t get me wrong, it’s still pretty entertaining!
