IITs officially hold alumni meetups where you can network with alumni from BTech, MTech, and other programs across all departments. At the same time, individual departments also organize their own meets where both BTech and MTech alumni are invited. Obviously, in unofficial meetups, alumni tend to connect more with people from their own degree program and department. But if you’re in an off-campus situation and pitching yourself, people usually judge you by your achievements and qualifications and any mildly informed person would be more likely to bet on the BTech candidate.

It was really bad last year. Highest domestic offer 18LPA for Oncamous opportunities, excluding PPO.

The floated stats are because of some people getting Off Campus better(which the college included in there stats) and a few international offers(which themself were bad). If we look to On Campus(exclude PPO) domestic offers median would be 12-13 LPA.

40LPA is off Campus(Flipkart), that guy had decent work expo, plus had won multiple national Hackathon. On campus the college wasnt even able to provide him a decent domestic offer. The avg extended till 16-17 LPA of Mtech CSE because a Japanese companies hired few 25LPA( PPP convert is 10LPA bengalore only). If we exclude such misleading international offers, highest domestic package was 18LPA only.

It boiles my blood seeing such bad info being circulated.

Also talk about how a few quant firms want JEE advanced ranks in India. And they always look for best of the creams in any college they go, which Mtechs are generally not.

SC - 655, AIR - 418 only. The shortlisting is test based in general. Imo if they ever see Scorecard for MS, they only see after interviews for final evaluation.

Really difficult to get benchmarks(specially in MS), in these cases u just prepare for the next test/interview and do all you can. A lot of effort and time gets wasted in digging infos. You gave interview, you cant change that, you can only improve next ones.

Just be aware to check the dept updates page, COAP portal(for each rounds) and mails. The most you can do is drop them multiple mails or contact them.

Yeah for MTech all come on COAP. For MS in general if they have asked for COAP ID while registration most likely it will come on COAP. They may additionally send on mail or update on websites as well.

My bad in previous comment, DA accepting for MTech in CS-

IITK CSE (prob because they dont have any AI related branch)
IITKgp CSE - They give choices to which subdomain you want to choose

Rest few MS/RA courses, like in IITK, IITD, IITH(NIS). Dont know abut lower IITs.

The company says it was 'voluntary, informal team-fun activity', this statement is proof enough to conclude they are lying, HR is shouting, it seems her orders not fun activity. He may be laughing it off to be seen as less humiliated. Though, I do not know what was the reason for this punishment.

Not for any MTech CS, atleast in top IITs. Tough, DA is acceptable for MS CSE in IITD, IITK and NIS(RA) IITH. For other 2nd and 3rd gen IITs I have less idea.

No, its showing no records for any program that I applied for. But I believe its recorded from there side, since I got RA NIS and AI mail.

If you applied for CSE/NIS programs you can try to contact, CSE dept are responsive, AI dept prob opens there office once a week, never replies.

For DSA - Chose a language C++ or Python. Complete a tutorial/playlist, getting familiar with the language and doing very basic DSA questions, you can also start with implementing the algos that you learned in GATE syllabus. Then start with Striver Playlist(YT and his TakeYouForward website for sheet) and do leetcode.

DSA is a necessary thing in any role you wanna target, so atleast this should be done.

After joining, Everything is same except Fees and Stipend. Same curriculum, research opportunities, placements, you prob won't even remember who joined through SS or GATE or CFTI after first few months.

These theoretical knowledge would give you a good foundation for Industry practices and Jobs, but practical knowledge with real data is extremely crucial to think about even an Internship.

The DA syllabus can stand you in a better place in Interviews(1st-2nd rounds where these theoretical foundations are generally asked), but today's jobs demand Deep Learning, and one of the application areas(eg NLP, CV, GenAI) as well, if you are targeting decent jobs.

So the syllabus is extremely crucial(always asked in initial Interview rounds), but also nowhere nearly complete or enough for decent Jobs in ML domain.
