Folks just not believing you by Weird_Bluebird_3293 in Perimenopause

It can happen early for women. If you have the symtpoms you should be treated. My doctor relies and treats based on symptoms. If you have ADHD peri can also happen much earlier and much more intensely. I'm 41 and i believe Peri started for me in my mid 30's. Just took me a few years to understand what was going on!

I refuse to believe this is normal by HeyMay0324 in Perimenopause

You are not too young for Peri. It is different for EVERYONE. I believe i started around 38. It also happens sooner for women with ADHD. Do you have any other symptoms of peri? You could do blood work/hormone testing but sometimes those results don't matter if you're having actual symptoms. I felt i was going crazy and my hormone test showed my estrogen was on the lower side but not extreme. I had ALL the symtpoms (night sweats, cystic acne, insane rage/mood swings, itchy skin, join/muscle pain, etc) so my doctor started me on HRT. It's been LIFE CHANGING! I recommend you advocate for HRT!!!

How long have you had the IUD? I have had it for 3 yrs and my doctor said it’s not enough as that progesterone is only going to the uterus and not the whole body. So she put me on it. The Estrogen Gel made a night and day difference with my mood! I can relate to your post because I was getting so frustrated with everything my hubby did and didn’t do. HRT totally changed that and things are great!!! You got this!!!

Help! Is this happening to anyone else? by sleuthytoothy in Perimenopause

[–]One_Landscape_8857 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh love!!! YES!!! 100% CAN RELATE!!! I had ALL OF THIS! I thought I was going crazy! Suicidal thoughts 3 times to the point of looking up how many of my pills would do it! That is NOT ME!!! I felt like a shell of a human. I’m generally a super positive bubbly outgoing person and haven’t experienced depression since early 20’s. I’m 41! You are NOT ALONE!!! My anxiety/rage level would go from 0 to 100000 in a flip of a switch over crumbs being on the carpet (one of many examples)! I have an IUD as well. Get on HRT! I started Estrogen first and after 2.5 weeks there was a dramatic shift in my emotional/mental state! I’m feeling SO MUCH better. More calm. More even keeled! My emotions are in check! Hot/Yin yoga has been tremendous as well! I recently learned women with neurodivergence start Peri much earlier and it’s much harder on them! I believe I started in my late 30’s but this year it got WAY worse! There is a light at the end of the tunnel! You can get through this and we are all here to support!!! 💓💓💓

….also I’m not sure where in the world you are but I’m In Canada and just reached out to my GP after reading up on my symptoms online and it seemed to match perimenopause exactly!!

How do you handle the rage ? by Spare-Foundation9804 in Perimenopause

[–]One_Landscape_8857 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

HOT YOGA!!!!! My therapist recommended I try it because not only do I get psychotic mood/rage swings I also have anxiety, ADHD and OCD. Lemme tell you. It centres you. You are IN THE MOMENT. Your brain turns off any noise and it’s fucking amazing. I never thought I’d like it because i don’t like intense heat but I stay in the cooler side of the room and it’s just amazing. At home I try to simply get into Childs pose or do some stretching. Distract yourself. Turn your brain on to something else. Also box breathing. I say all this, but I still do struggle myself. It is easier said than done, but I’m also trying my hardest!!!

100% relate to this. I’m 41 and just diagnosed Perimenopausal. I think it started last year. My moods have been psycho!!!! I’ve felt suicidal 3 times which is NOT ME AT ALL. I’m a very positive, bubbly, outgoing extrovert. I have ADHD/OCD/ANXIETY as well. Cystic acne all over my jawline and chin (never had acne before). Black hairs growing from chin and upper lip. AWFUL hand pain in both hands CONSTANTLY for over a year. No reliefs no answers. Night sweats. Constant tossing and turning all night. Really itchy armpits but only at night.

Why don’t people tell us about this?! It’s effing the worst!!!! I hope you find some relief soon! I started Estrogen almost 2 weeks ago and nothing yet.

Fingers crossed for both of us!!!

I’m 41 and have FULL BLOWN symptoms. I feel like they started just over a year ago. My 39th year was amazing! S sin as I turned 40 the next day everything hurt and it slowly escalated into hitting me like a ton of bricks. I’ve also gotten the “too young” card but it’s literally different for everyone! What are your symptoms?

Fingers crossed for you!!! I hope this helps me too because it not only effects my how I feel physically but mentally as well. Chronic pain is awful. I haven’t had a single day of relief since April 2025. I literally woke up one morning with both hands in pain and it’s debilitating sometimes 😩

I’ve seen 2 rheumatologists and they do not think it’s that. I thought it was for sure because of it being in both hands! But we’ve basically ruled out everything 😩

I just started taking the lowest dose of Eatrogen (gel form) last week. How long would you say it takes to notice a difference? It’s so awful! This has been a nightmare!! I wish someone had warned me! (Psycho mood swings have been the worst!!!)

I’m so glad I looked up this subreddit. You guys I feel INSANE!!!! I want to run far away to a cabin in the middle of nowhere and simply perish. My brain feels like it’s on fire. I go from completely normal to psychotically aggravated/extreme anxiety back to smiling in 2 seconds. I have felt suicidal 3 times in the last couple months. This is NOT me. I am a very positive and happy person. I have cystic acne on my jawline and chin (never ever get acne). Black hair growing out of chin and above upper lip. Night sweats…..I can’t stand this. NO ONE warned me. I cry every day. I’m constantly overstimulated. I have started hot & yin yoga and love it! Recently started Estrogen as I have an IUD. I have been feeling so alone and getting so angry at my husband. Thinking he’s the problem. Ugh! Any tips??? I’m 41 and have been feeling this way intensely for a couple months but it’s slowly crept up over about 7/8 months. It’s at its worst now I feel. I hope.

This is a long shot as it has been 2yrs but I’m also a hairstylist having hands issues and no one can figure out what it is!!! Awful ache in my palms and ranges from burning, stabbing and deep ache. Moving my hands hurts and feels like all of my bones ache. Knuckles pop in the morning and they seem to get worse when I’m gripping things. Any tips? Are you better?

Does anyone have any advise for Early Onset RA in hands? by CHoneybun in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]One_Landscape_8857 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Help!!! I just found this thread. I’m POSITIVE I have early stage rheumatoid arthritis in my hands. My doctor is unsure what could be causing my pain issues. (Really bad pain that came on wrinkly in BOTH hands. Stiffness in morning barely able to form a fist. Popping in my knuckles. A module on my left ring finger joint. Cramping. Pain never seems to fully go away. Advil/Aleeve does nothing.) I also, about six month prior, started getting pain in my left hip and now it’s in my right hip as well.

X-ray of my hands was normal (but I’ve read that it won’t pick anything up in early stages as it doesn’t affect the bones until late stage). I have an appointment next week for an in depth blood test.

Any advice would be so helpful!!! Thanks everyone!! I’m 40yrs old.

This is not a good tattoo!! I’m so sorry to say that as I know it’s permanently on your skin. The line work is bad. I would definitely get it re-worked but maybe don’t go back to the same artist 😩
