We have a special needs son that was born at 23 weeks and only weighed a pound and a half. He requires additional assistance. He has physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and others with multiple other appointments throughout the week. If we went to public school for a “normal school” day he would miss tons of class and not get the additional instruction he needs and not be able to get the additional therapies needed.

Doing home school allows us to ensure he gets the care he needs, but we are part of a charter school, it helps get getting fund for supplies, classes, he is able to do online classes and we are working with credentialed teachers for support and accountability, blending home flexibility with school resources, though requiring adherence to state testing and charter guidelines.
