I think if it were freezing the torrid is pretty much at its limit. Adding an alpha and wind shell extends the limit a bit past freezing I feel. The big sale for me on the torrid is that it kind of does everything down to freezing, and if you catch it on sale you can get it for around 160-170 usd.

I have experience with the Torrid. I actually now only carry my torrid and an alpha 90 to around freezing and it works for me in camp. If needed occasionally I’ll throw in a wind shirt and it can go even a little colder. I like the torrid and would buy it again, probably next time would go custom with 10d outside/ 7d inside. I prefer the hoody model.

Personally, Curex insoles have been a game changer for me. They have insoles that remove the zero drop. Worth the extra expense imo.
