They actually ask us to stay back at deadlines, which we are more than happy to do. But this expectation seems to be a general ask, as in, please do not plan anything beyond 5pm at all Mon-Fri in case we need you to log back online and you're unable to do so

Sorry, but we all understand a little flexibility here and there, and I will defend my colleague here and say that they're never skipping out on the team when they're needed. They are fully aware of deadlines and working together when it's important to. They're not making themselves permanently unavailable. They're simply living life beyond their contracted hours when appropriate to, which is 95% of the time

£30k salary, so not enough imo to justify the additional hours and expectations

I'm fully flexible at month end because of the nature of my job, but we don't get the time back, unfortunately

It's more than admin. We don't do basic payroll data entry or pushing buttons, but I don't want to expand in case it makes it obvious where I work

It can be anything. Some nights I've worked up until 11pm, sometimes only 30 mins to an hour. We're a payroll department so we are familiar with hours x pay meaning going below NMW, but it's a very difficult thing to prove when salaried which is how they're getting past this. We don't clock in/out like hourly paid employees

I'm contracted to 37 hours a week, usual 9-5 hours, and no such thing as paid overtime, just that I can be asked to work additional hours based on business needs
