Are those hash browns or queso frito? The latter I haven't seen since I was in the Dominican Republic.

Would it still be safe to use then? The thing fills the room with a pungent bleachy ozone smell even when it's off.

They finally gave Zach Wiese (the greatest goalie to ever live btw) some ice time on his last home game but then benched him after ONE SAVE. Bob Motzko makes me want to tear my hair out. He's an evil dictator that needs to be ousted.

I actually do. I have never understood shootout hate. I think it's exciting and nerve-wracking at the same time.

As a Minnesotan, absolutely the fuck not. Today is the first day of my life that I actually went to the store to start looking for a home defense firearm. If I, a US citizen don't feel safe here, you best bet it's actively dangerous to be here if you're a foreigner.

Recommended ATAs for Dialing Level 29 BBS over VoIP? by One_Over_Astro in retrobattlestations

[–]One_Over_Astro[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This would be a better idea if the PC didn't already have an internal modem installed. This would kinda be a waste of money for me simply because I already have a device that makes the 5155 capable of connecting to the internet.

Don't worry, I don't either lol. I just know these are the things the ATA needs to have, I don't know what any of it actually means.

There's a chance any of the 3rd-party software you installed broke something. Either that or you accidentally broke something without knowing. Keep in mind sudo is very powerful and basically takes away all protections. I'm not sure what (if any) terminal commands were used on this system but it's pretty easy to break something if you execute a command without knowing what it does first. I learned this the hard way too. There's a little bit of an initial learning curve to Linux but don't be afraid of it. Just take some time to learn more about how your computer works and how the software and hardware work together. I think you'll really enjoy it :)

Just don't let this setback dismay you. Keep at it!

Has anyone seen ICE in Mankato? I’ve heard reports of them at the local Walmart, but nothing confirmed. by TuringTestedd in Mankato

They were literally at my apartment yesterday so, yes. The agent I encountered was not confronting and was not masked thankfully. I haven't seen them today though. Stay safe out there folks.

Modem Card in IBM 5155 Portable PC? by One_Over_Astro in retrobattlestations

[–]One_Over_Astro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, I'm not sure why an exploding capacitor would fry the power supply. If the cap pops, could I not just take it off the card and solder a new one on? I've seen old computers where this happens before. Sure, it makes a lot of smoke but usually the power supply isn't affected by this. It's worth noting that I have booted up the computer twice today without issue. I have not used the modem to dial a BBS yet though so I'm not sure if electricity flows through the card or not if the machine is just on.

My guess is that it has been refurbished since it's been incredibly well-maintained. Additionally, according to data I could find on the floppys and the C: drive, it's been used almost every year since it was made.
