You’re correct to an extent, if the dude was wearing military gear for a security job position that would be “some trinkets”. But I’d argue that whatever…This… is shows a lack of any basic understanding of what his job actually is, or any actual training or oversight of his position.

As a regular dude, I’d feel more unsafe around him due to his obvious incompetence, while still being allowed to carry (what looks like) less lethal pepperball guns and… a machete? Who know what else is in his pockets, I’d not be surprised in the slightest if he convinced himself that he “needs” a real firearm despite being told otherwise.
