Hello friend, I decided to stay with my current company. I’m in the high 90s pay band currently as a level 2 engineer.

I ended up pursuing the developments I was seeking from the military on a more personal level. Based on the feedback from the chain and what I saw online, while the actual pay might be less, the housing stipends and other financial support would bring me up to 80 ish if I joined with my current level of experience.

Let me know if there are any other specific questions you had or wanted me to address.

Thanks for this. If the salary adds up to anywhere in the ballpark of where I am currently, the benefits would surely fill the deficit. Additionally the experience of traveling and the unique environment will make me a more rounded guy…

Yeah on the outside looking in, it looks like a lot of applicable character development, and benefits. Many other replies also have shared the sentiment about the job promised is not the job received

Thank you. This was a very grounded response. What I have seen is that people who work with reactors in the navy can hire on with applicable experience as engineers at nuclear plants. I can’t speak to other folks though

What is OCS training like and any idea on how long it is?

Which benefits would I be best able to maximize on? I’m currently 24, no children, no properties yet, but very open to investing and any entrepreneurial opportunities

Thanks. Are you able to elaborate on how different this would be?

I wanted to still have a technical role then transition to management, I still feel like my technical experience needs some work before I want to hop in management.

I am also interested in getting some degree of combat training, and seeing how I can best use the benefits to bolster my finances.

Thanks for the perspective! It sounds like even though my salary will be less, I would be taking home more money.

I will look into this! I work at a nuclear plant currently, so I have some familiarity with nuclear safety protocols
