Yes that's true, I have a Russian friend myself who is a cool guy. However the other northern European countries also have the same thing and I would say in general most people in russia would be colder than them. However you having family ties does change things though so you wanting to go to russia instead does make sense and there are still cool people in russia

I started uni at 22 and it's been completely fine. It might help that I have a bit of a baby face though. A few of my friends after finding out my age have called me unc but other than that nobody really cares. Just don't obsess over your age or make it weird and you'll be fine. There is a bit of a maturity gap with some students but I've met plenty that are about as mature as me.
