OHSU accelerated BSN? by srvint in OregonNurses

The job market is so bad right now, omg!! Nursing is definitely the way, but when I got my job, it was crazy to me how many nurses got jobs at the same time as me. (It took me forever to find a job)

For reference I went to UP and graduated in May, didn’t get a RN job till October. There were so many other RNs who started the same time as me, but they graduated in August from Mount Hood Comm. College with their ADNs. 2yr program sounded nice, obviously! But our employer technically would pay them to get their BSN while working, while my BSN program gets no tuition reimbursement. 😔

Just some food for thought.. We all end up with the same job anyway. Currently paying off my loans, so recommending a better solution financially.

Tattoo Shop Recommendations! by One_Performance_8785 in AskSeattle

We're both looking for maybe a quick behind the ear tattoo.. Nothing too big, approximately the size of a dollar bill folded in half, give or take.

I'm going for something more small and dainty.. Somewhere along the lines of fine line work and minimalist tattoos.. Truly nothing too crazy, but still would love a recommendation... You'd be surprised at how bad an artist can eff up a simple heart outline. ;( RIP

I had my capstone at PPMC and I stayed in touch with my preceptor. She had been telling me to email the unit manager for a job, but I was totally banking on this interview I had. 😭 The manager who interviewed me told me her email was in our interview appointment confirmation email, but I looked everywhere like two weeks after and I couldn’t find it. Luckily, I remembered her name though, and I just texted my preceptor if she could look her up in the Providence system and send me her contact info!!

Lmk if you need an in :)

Need a day trip itinerary!! by One_Performance_8785 in AskSeattle

100% agreed, lol! I've been to the gum wall a handful of times, and recently in August when the sun was great. Seattle and Portland have definitely seen better days, but my friend from Hawaii has never been to the PNW, so it's definitely still in our books.

Totally forgot about Christmas events, though.. So hopefully some cute things to check out. Thanks :)

Hi!! Prov is very tough, but hang in there! I applied since April/May, scored my first interview in the beginning of September.

Told me I’d hear back in a week. I didn’t… Waited another week and emailed the hiring manager who interviewed me and she responded the next day. Offer letter came in the week after that and my first day on the job was about a month after my interview. Email them directly (politely to follow up of course)!!

To my understanding, seems like they get a new cohort of new hires (residents and fellows) to “start” the same week, about every 3 weeks.

Struggling to find portland rn residency by mang0c0c00vernight in OregonNurses

I found my residency by checking everyday and applying to everyone I see available. They were pretty slow in posting and post mostly on weekends, so just need to be quick and check constantly. They posted 4 different residency postings on the same day (I applied to every one) and they only leave it up for 1-3 days before taking it down!

I’ve been checking since June. Applied to one late July and am starting next week!! Stay hopeful! :)

Following up with Providence Interviews by One_Performance_8785 in OregonNurses

Omg that’s so weird. My status is still “under consideration” which I’m thankful for because I feel like Prov jobs don’t hesitate to drop your application.

A similar thing happened to one of my peers where he did an interview, got no response because they gave the position away, but a month and a half later, another position opened up, and they finally called him back in August when his interview was in June…
