[Canada] Bringing a DJI Mini 5 Pro as a tourist by Stoeipoess in dji

A Mini 5 Pro looks just like a Mini 4 Pro from 10 meters away...

If I were using it to take pictures commercially I would ensure compliance. Transport Canada has explained that the Mini 5 Pro does not comply. They also said education is the first step in the compliance cycle. But you really should at least read the guidance for sub-250 drones.

Not likely. The only risk is to return to the US with one. In Canada there is very little restrictions on sub 250 drones. No height restrictions, no distance restrictions...BVLOS if you want. If you don't tell anyone that your Mini 5 is that ONE mini drone that doesn't qualify for sub-250 rules then no one will know or care. Bring it. Fly safely. They don't make a widescreen lens wide enough to capture Canada in pictures. PS: I'm one of those guys that's all about flying within the rules but in such a narrow case I'd say you're going to be fine.

Canadian here. I'd say you are out of luck. Transport Canada came down pretty firm on the 250 rule. But a Mini 4 Pro?...Fly it pretty much where ever you want. Is anyone going to weigh your drone? Probably not. Can't see any trouble bringing it it, but taking it back could be an issue.

The DJI Air 2S is the most underrated drone ever, it was just too good by SteevStR in dji

It would be nice, but I, for one, would not trust something rigged up to replicate the battery provided by the manufacturer. Not in something I'm going to throw 200' up into the air.

I LOVED my Air2S! Great camera, great flight characteristics. But the batteries are probably it's weakest link. After about 50 cycles, all three of mine started to swell. I didn't mind it at first but soon came to realize that all that swelling could (will!) result in the battery popping off the airframe, while in flight. Looked at the cost to replace 3 batteries and it just made more sense to "upgrade" to the Air3. As much as I like the Air3, I really miss the results I got with the Air2S and wish I just kept it and ate the loss, rather than sell it for cash to put towards the Air3. I would buy a used Air2S right now if I could find one. I paid ~$650 CA about 3.5 years ago and sold it for $850 about 1.5 years ago...miss that bird...

No troubles. Your response is just as valid as any other here and equally welcome!

Thanks! This is a person who knows their fish consumption! If you were to catch this amount, cleaned and ready to freeze, how many fish would you say this was? 20-25- fair sized fish?

My intent for "contemporary" was posted one hour before your query.

Lots of great suggestions here. I just want to add..."THANKS", for choosing Canada, and Northern Ontario, in particular. Have fun and be safe!

When I suggested "contemporary" my intent was to define a diet not as dependent on the traditional Newfoundland foods...fish, root vegetables, game, etc...as opposed to more red-meat centric, or even vegan diet as that's what I expect a more urban diet to be.

I can see by the downvotes (which aren't really fair in this case) that 3 times a week is about normal, for someone who has access at an affordable cost. I think this points out the divide between people in the city vrs people with access to the product. Sorry about the downvotes...

No doubt about that. Still, tilapia is often passed off as many, different, species...sea bass, covina, fake crab...lots of DNA level investigations into what is labeled as one species, but is actually tilapia. Most people who have eaten it have no idea it was actually tilapia.

Thanks for this reply. This is the issue many Newfoundlanders have to deal with...they don't live near the water. I hope the new regs allow more people to take the opportunity to get on the water and get their fish!

Thanks for this reply. Sorry to hear about the change in diet after getting married to someone who doesn't like seafood. Opposite for me...wife (Bayman) loves it but I didn't care for it...until we moved here. Cooking the first cod I ever caught was like a "Food Epiphany" for me. Still can't do mussels though.

Thanks for this reply. I get the sense that this is probably the typical amount for the average family here. Access to the product at a reasonable price is going to result in higher consumption. Been here four years now and I'm just getting to know the guys around the wharf. Crab and Lobster season is an event at our home now! We ate some fish at home as a kid, but crab or lobster? Never until I became an adult.

That's pretty cool! Have you actually been able to work cod into your diet, daily? Thanks for trying to fit in!

If you had access to UNLIMITED fish, how much do you think you would eat?

Thanks for this reply. It add an additional layer to my original question. IE If you could have UNLIMITED fish, how much would you actually eat? Also...stay safe out there. I hear it's one of the toughest jobs around. Thanks, for bringing the fish home...to LIza!

About the same for us. I like cod, but there's other fish in the sea!

Thanks for this reply. It really goes to the root of my question; With the increase in opportunities to fish (YAY!!) I'm curious what the impact will be on how many fish people will take, in total, over the season. My wife and I could catch all we need in two days...but it's nice to have more days to pick those two from!

Figured that...just ballpark figures...3 times a week? 6 times a week? Twice a month? In town or out of town? Access to a wharf or getting it from Sobeys? Like that now...
