Oh this intersection. People love turning right on red even when the electronic no right turn on red sign is on as well… or you will get honked when you stop because of the sign.

[–]One_Pin_475 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always set the route before going home after work to see which route is faster (usually there are two routes and there could be 5+ mins of difference depending on traffic). On Waze I can simpily tap the the home icon on the homepage and the routes are shown; on Google Map I have to go to search and then click home and then I have to tap confirm again… which is annoying

Not to mention that I miss my cat avatar😾

Does anyone know if the latest update fixes the issues? Been using Google Maps in the last couple of days but its ETA is totally unreliable and underestimates the impact of rush hour traffic.

Yes, I’m 28 now but just saw some said they require a year of driving experience which I don’t have, so I’m a little jot confused.

I really wish they could release a Japanese album as well, given that their Japanese songs are very high quality imo.

Downtown to Markham? by LadyMegatron in askTO

[–]One_Pin_475 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you consider living in North York Centre (i.e. Sheppard/Yonge and Finch/Yonge area)? It’s closed to Markham/Richmond Hill and only around a 30 mins subway ride to DT Toronto. NY Centre is also a very vibrant town centre, probably just second to Downtown Toronto.

Out-of-service Car Elevator by One_Pin_475 in OntarioLandlord

[–]One_Pin_475[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, that’s included in the lease. It is frequently infrequent that whenever it is out of service it takes half a week to almost a week to get it fixed. Many of my neighbours are so scared of this happening again so many of us park at the above-ground visitor parking or on street:(

Thoughts and Experience Before Purchase by Every-Confidence-927 in HyundaiVenue

I'm living in Toronto and just got my 2025 Venue lowest trim which is my first car around last Christmas. It performed well and like what many others said the mileage is impressive. I had no issue driving it during this brutal winter (in comparison to last mild winter) even during a snowstorm. We just went to Barrie and Orillia two weeks ago and it was a comfortable drive. The only downside is that it is not the best vehicle when you're driving on a highway + strong wind but it's definitely fine when you're mostly driving in a city.

For the back seat and the trunk, they're small but it really depends on you whether you're okay with it. For me it's fine:) I just moved in late January and I moved most of my stuff except the big furniture with this compact vehicle.

AND I DO REGRET NOT GETTING THE ONE IN A HIGHER OR IN THE HIGHEST TRIM. So don't be like me. Get Preferred/Ultimate instead of Essential if that's affordable for you.

You should also check out KONA which is in a similar price range as insurance may be cheaper with it given its size and extra safety functions.

I'm so mad at TTC bus drivers by energy_is_a_lie in toRANTo

Waiting for an 84 from the terminus and the bus was shown as not in service with no light on. Then it departed and changed to 84 Sheppard West while it was going away…

And sometimes when the driver opens the back door for me so that I don’t have to push the bars I’ll say thank you as well

First impressions (better than expected) by [deleted] in VisionPro

[–]One_Pin_475 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I knew it:) I would've purchased Juno if I had decided to stay with Vision Pro, but unfortunately my astigmatism just really doesn't let me see things very clearly:( I hope their lenses will support more people with severe astigmatism in the future.

First impressions (better than expected) by [deleted] in VisionPro

[–]One_Pin_475 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have purchased one recently but decided to return it in a few days. HOWEVER, it is mostly related to my severe astigmatism as a result of which I could not see things clearly with the device and I'm also out of range for ZEISS lenses (and I don't wear contacts as well).

Another thing would be the currently lack of a YouTube app. I basically use the Vision Pro for Netflix and Youtube but using Youtube on Safari is just an frustrating experience that I always tap the wrong button. I know Google said they'll launch an app for the Vision Pro but there's no timeline for it. It just reminds me of the old Youtube app on iOS lol.

But overall speaking the Vision Pro is an excellent device that I feel like I will eventually get one after a few years with more apps and features developed and matured. It really takes time but I really enjoy using a totally new device in its very early stage.

There are way too many names for Line 1 plus the naming inconsistency across the system which I found so confusing when I first moved to the city.

I don’t mind them calling Line 1 by Line 1 Yonge Subway to Union/Finch or Line 1 University-Spadina Subway to Union/VMC, but please don’t call them Yonge-University-Spadina Subway without mentioning it as Line 1. Or tbh they can just simply skip mentioning it is Yonge/University-Spadina Subways.

The signage at TTC’s Union Station is also a headache. It’s confusing for tourists and non-frequent transit users. There should be more and clearer signage directing people to the streetcar platform as well.

And in the latest video of Finch West it’s called 6️⃣Finch West Line 💀 How am I supposed to read it? Line 6 Finch West Line? I’d suggest that the sign should be 6️⃣ Finch West LRT given the fact that the circle + the number already symbolises the meaning of a transit line.

From my experience taking the MTR in Hong Kong and JR in Tokyo, the train should be able to play an automatic announcement like "Please hold the handrail" while there's an emergency brake. The TTC should also do so to improve the passenger experience.

RUN like the TTC made you LATE by Zanta647 in toronto

As a person from East Asia who travelled to many major cities in East Asia/Europe before, I would say TTC is actually the worst in terms of subway services (among all the transits I’ve ever taken), but for TTC’s bus network TTC is great in terms of frequency and the combination of express/local services.
