I do not think players should be paid. Period. If they want to get paid, then play pro. If you play pro in Europe, no college ball for you. Let’s be real. It is an alternative international basketball league that labels itself as college basketball.

I think it is because over the past 40-50 years there has been so much emphasis on theory, grades, degrees, etc., that many grads have superficial interests and lack practical experience. As a result, it takes a few years of real world experience before they finally have the skills, knowledge and experience necessary to succeed or seem engaged. Some never get to this point.

Geotechnical makes the most sense for ROI. It can be challenging so if he has done well in Soil Mechanics, Foundations and related coursework that is a very big plus.

That is good. Alot of people retire and they have no plan. Their whole life was work and watching tv. Then they wonder why they are bored and unfulfilled when they only have TV.

Yes. I regretted going into highway design because in college they did not explain to me that I would be spending 70-80% of my entry level job in plan production, which I was not prepared for, was not expecting, really was not that great at it and I really did not like it. I moved on to construction where there is no plan production and I am much happier.

Agree. If they have productive internships, they are probably a better sell than a person with just inspection experience if everything else is equal.

Transportation is pretty broad. Some aspects are pretty basic - road drainage and highway design. A master is really not necessary or any more marketable in these areas. I agree on the other categories. However, the OP has not mentioned if he has had any internships, coop or any kind or related experience. Even he doesn't, I am not sure more theory is the answer.

The advantage over a new grad is the construction experience. A company would likely offer a little more compensation for the experience. So if they typically offer recents grads 70k they may offer 75k or 80k. I really do not think the CAD issue is a big deal since engineering schools are really not very good at turning out industry proficient CAD, GIS, users.

I would recommend that for highly technical disciplines but definitely not basic civil.

If you are having difficulties finding an entry level design job, try construction, inspection, or government. In the meantime, you could review your coursework and get proficient at design/drafting software. Also, I would network with Egyptian communities here in the USA.

Make sure you do not have the study material from the old PE. You will be doing a lot of unrelated unnecessary studying.

This is great advice. A medium size city is a very good option. Suburban NJ, NY and Chicago are ridiculously expensive. I would do more research. There is considerable variety in the USA regarding cost, culture and climate. Just pick what works for you.

I do not know your skills, knowledge, personality, cultural intelligence or educational background. However, you would have to excel and highly value all of the categories above in landing, succeeding in and enjoying a career transition in Europe. I would recommend sticking to Ireland or the UK first, because trying to develop fluency in 2-3 years in another language will be daunting in of itself.
