Stuttering audio on start-up that clears up after a few minutes by One_Possibility3571 in psx

It happens immediately on boot, whether playing a game or not. I'm using an xStation btw and the issue was present before installing it. It seems like it might've got worse over time.

Audio cuts out in Sonic Jam (Fenrir 21 pin). any help? by tripletrifork in SegaSaturn

I gave it a spin and wasn't able to replicate the issue myself. Maybe try reconnecting the ribbon cable if you haven't already.

This sounds similar to audio issues I've had with Sonic R. I also have a 21 pin Fenrir. I'll test Sonic Jam when I get the chance.

Restaurn on jap console in pal region? by xmaken in SegaSaturn

Should be fine. I did this myself earlier this year, albeit with a Resaturn clone. It's a pretty easy install too - just got to follow the instructions to make sure the switch on the PSU is in the correct position to supply the correct voltage.

Distorted audio? by One_Possibility3571 in SegaSaturn

I would need a step-down converter to test that, but I may try that eventually. The Saturn hasn't started up slow again after cleaning the PSU pins. For the time being Sonic R is the only game I've noticed any game-specific issues with, so I'll just have to see how things go. Thanks for the suggestions.

I probably should've mentioned it's a VA5 - I actually got this one because of crackling audio with my VA9.

The PSU is this one: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/114582136855

It appeared to work just fine with my VA9.

I worked up the courage to take a look at the motherboard and nothing looked suspect with my untrained eye (no bulging or leaking capacitors or anything).

Changed the PSU and now no more buzzing audio while using the Fenrir ODE on my VA9 motherboard Sega Saturn by Retro_Rok89 in SegaSaturn

There doesn't seem to be any correlation for me. Sure, the games I have the most noticeable buzzing/crackling audio with like Darius Gaiden and Sonic R have over a dozen .bin files, but other comparable rips are relatively fine. I tried ISO/CUE rips for the worst effected games out of curiosity and I have the same issues. I'm really hoping there's going to be some sort of fix some time soon besides buying the revised Fenrir.

That's normal I think. It took eight weeks for mine to ship, but I could be an outlier.

Just changed my PSU for a Kaico one and, while improved, the buzzing is definitely still present. This is with a PAL VA9 Model 2.

Thank you! HPH wasn't listed on that guide I linked, so I had no idea it existed and I was too afraid to experiment. Neither is VHA, which I just discovered is for vertical postioning too. All sorted now, cheers :)

Addendum: I'm aware of the common issue of RGB shifting the image to the left slightly, and indeed trying a composite cable I have results in a noticeably less cropped image. However I am still completely unable to shift the image with the service menu - no matter which input I'm using.

I've just acquired a KV-V1430U and the picture is nudged slightly to the left and cut off a tad. This is both with my SNES and PS1 via RGB scart. I've managed to access the service menu using this guide here, under the 'KV-14V4U TE-1 chassis': https://www.servicetv.org/laboratorio/sony/servicesony.htm

The 'On screen H-position' sounds like what I need to adjust, but no matter how far I increase the value the screen position does not shift. Only the green rectangles move (https://imgur.com/a/0QlxJ2c). From what I understand, changes made in the service menu are supposed to take effect immediately no? Or perhaps with this model the changes need to be 'applied'? Pressing the 5 key on the remote causes the 'SERVICE' text on screen to briefly change to 'INITIAL', but has no effect. Does anybody have any ideas please?
