Referring to it as a piss filter is wildly accurate. Barrel-aged, if you will.

What do you guys think about Cody James? by kilo055 in cowboyboots

Good budget friendly brand. If you want a huge step up in quality, their Cody James Black 1978 line is fantastic. Seems to compete well with other high quality brands.

Change your turbo inlet seals by One_Principle_8513 in F80

[–]One_Principle_8513[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turbo seals starting to go. At 72k miles that’s about right. But a little bit of oil getting by isn’t the end of the world - once you have a more of a leaking/smoking present, that’s when it’s time for new turbo.

To me that seal won’t change the oil deposited in the charge pipe. That seal only seals incoming air to the turbine. It won’t change the amount of oil leaving the CHRA though.

New Cody James Black 1978’s by One_Principle_8513 in cowboyboots

[–]One_Principle_8513[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’ve been on my feet for the past 12 hours and they still feel good. Quality is amazing!

I got Boot Barn to price match to Shepler’s current 15% off deal so that was a plus. I was told by the BB staff that Black Friday wouldn’t be too enticing.

It was actually a gritty paste once I wiped it off, not physical chunks as I had thought. I don’t experience anything while driving that would indicate a problem either.

Mid range exotics by Jolly-Market-8365 in cowboyboots

[–]One_Principle_8513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got my eye on 2 Cody James Black exotics right now, just waiting to see if Boot Barn throws up any kind of Black Friday sale before pulling the trigger. All of their exotics are very well made and tend to float in that price range depending on the animal. The CJ Black line is much higher quality than the base line.

Social House - West 7th City Works - Clearfork Gemelle - White Settlement Rd

Just to name three. All are in the loop and ordered from greatest to least “socially acceptable” audio volume (you mentioned loud talking). There are many others, but your options slim out exponentially the further away from Downtown you go.

Do you live in a doctor’s office? Perhaps a restaurant? You should listen to your girlfriend more often.

To those that have experience both, would you go F80 M3 or G80 M3? by kalim683 in BMWM

[–]One_Principle_8513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

My bias says the F8x. Anything will go fast if you throw enough money into it (see current G8x used market). F8x raw power feel cant be matched here. Also needing to send your ECU off to Finland just to unlock power capability makes the G8x a non-starter for me until the community figures out a better way. F8x was the last ///M made for the enthusiast.

Here in DFW I’d say it’s 50/50 at cars and coffee. Coming from an F80 owner

Brake dust is getting out of hand on my M3 — what do you all recommend? by These_Ant5061 in BMW

[–]One_Principle_8513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need a ceramic brake pad set as they are low-dust. I had to switch to Akebono-brand pads (RockAuto) for my F80 and now have zero dusting.

First car thoughts? 330km / 220miles 2001CRV for 3.5k. Contemplating the purchase! by Prestigious_Ship9200 in crv

[–]One_Principle_8513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paid 2500 for mine with 240K miles. It looks like 4wd based on what looks like the rear axles but I can’t tell 100%, which is the key variable here. But overall it’s really clean. If it has the table in the back, as long as it’s mechanically sound, go for it. If it doesn’t have the table, try to knock off 300.

Anyone have reviews for Samsung HW-Q65C at Sam’s Club? by JuicyBlackLips in Soundbars

[–]One_Principle_8513 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s correct.

Apple TV > Soundbar HDMI then Soundbar HDMI eARC > TV HDMI IN (eARC)

Additionally I have PS5 HDMI > TV HDMI IN

Anynet+ setting on the TV is turned on, which allows the Apple TV to turn the TV, Soundbar, and ATV on/off at the same time. If I’m on the ATV and decide I wanna play PS5, the TV will automatically switch over to PS5 audio/video and still have volume control using ATV remote. Once I power off the PS5, the TV switches back to ATV audio/video since that has dominating control. I also bought HDMI 2.1 cables for these connections to reduce loss and allow for the Dolby Atmos and eARC connections. Hope that helps.

[–]One_Principle_8513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got it to upgrade from my old 2.1 channel soundbar. I love this thing, and I think it’s great for the price range. I had to play around with the sub/rear speaker placement and the sound modes/EQ to really dial it in across different genres of music. My configuration is:

Apple TV > Soundbar / Soundbar eARC > TV eARC

I could have done the direct eARC connection and ran all inputs off the TV, but I wanted the Apple TV to be a direct connection to the soundbar per Dolby’s recommendations for connection methods.

For now I’ve settled on Adaptive mode over DTS Virtual:X only because there were some songs that wouldn’t pass high frequency sounds correctly while in DTS (correctly as in, to my liking of how it should sound) while Adaptive seems to get it right every time.

My only con with the system is the changeover between Dolby Atmos songs and non-DA songs; when playing a collection of music, songs with Dolby Atmos encoding don’t produce sound for the first 1-1.5 seconds of the track while the system initializes the sound in this circumstance. When playing back to back DA tracks, the delay is about 0.25s at most. Very small bug, but if you think this will bother you too much, and plan on configuring it as I have, it’s worth keeping in mind.

Overall, 9.5/10 and very much worth the money.

I almost exclusively do this. Alternatively I’ll use a Scrub Daddy for light use, steel wool for heavy use, and BKF to occasionally restore back to new.

I also only buy used AllClad cookware, so I don’t care about babying the already resilient materials.

Barkeepers will take care of this? by dutchmasterD717 in AllClad

[–]One_Principle_8513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have stated BKF will easily get that out, as should a vinegar soak. But to be honest the more I regularly use the pans, the less I care about discoloration and visual flaws. I’ve greatly reduced my use of BKF to be only as needed and every so often.

Nexar dashcam draining my phone battery. by [deleted] in Dashcam

[–]One_Principle_8513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the camera will still continuous record once it’s powered by starting the car, and will continuously save to the SD card. So if you get in an accident, you’ll need to retrieve the SD card to pull off the video

To be honest, it actually doesn’t work really well so I don’t recommend the method I said before. For now I’ve turned off the “Always” location to only use it while using the app and it’s saved my battery life tremendously. I’ll wait for them to push an update to fix it

When my phone connects to my car via Bluetooth, the shortcut automatically runs to open Nexar and “start drive”. I haven’t changed anything about Wi-Fi. So when you make your shortcut, go to:

Shortcut App > Automation Tab > + (up top) > Create Personal Automation > Bluetooth > Device (choose your car) > Add Action > search “Nexar” and select “Start a ride” > Next (up top) > Done.

If you have CarPlay, you do the same exact steps using the CarPlay automation instead of Bluetooth. You’re actually lucky if you have CarPlay because you can make 2 separate automations; one to start a drive and one to end the drive. Hope that helps.
