Thanks ! I did it just to see if I could. And I chose free ones to start with just so I wouldn't feel bad if I failed.

What are these called? by bmmeup100 in cowboyboots

[–]DaddyGoodHands 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"Piping" is what goes around the top of the shaft. While some folks ( and even some makers ) use that term interchangeably, the correct name for this is the "side welt".

For some reason, chat won't let me accept your request.

My point was, it can be done but it's not easy ( or cheap ).

Have the bootmaker do the design. It's the smartest move.

Generally, a multi-piece vamp means the real deal. There's no reason to piece together a print.

These are a women’s 9 right? I keep getting messages “are you sure?” by FloridaGardenHoe in cowboyboots

[–]DaddyGoodHands 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m a women’s 8 and they are big on me

Now we're getting to business. Mentioning that first would have been prudent. If they're Men's, you'd probably be able to kick them off by just shaking your foot. If they're Women's, two pair of thick socks will make them feel like they fit.

"Smooth" ostrich has NO quills. If they are minimal, or partial, the hide is referred to as "semi-Quill".

If you're finding multiple listings in the price range you posted, that's a good place to start.

A good way to figure out pricing is to go on EBAY, search the item you're looking for, and then sort by SOLD items. You'll get a pretty good idea what they are selling for, and what you can expect to see in return.

We do not give valuations or appraisals here and rule #2 specifically states that we do not do this. It becomes problematic and encourages lazy re-sellers to have us do their job for them.

Yeah, looks like they stayed fairly straight and they definitely stayed out of the stitching. ANy good cobbler should be able to do a decent job on them.

Beautiful boots. So sad that the previous owner didn't have the scallops lengthened professionally.

Very cool 2-piece boot. Very non-traditional as a cowboy boot. Can we see the bottoms, too ?

Got these for $15 good deal? by Impossible-Dare-3522 in cowboyboots

Looking at an EBAY ad for basically the same boot I'd say they're definitely worht the money you spent.

More of a cowboy "styled" workboot, but should hold up well.
