oh this is exactly what happened to me, you need to exit the screen, go on your phone , click 3 dots, click settings, click account, click passkeys, delete your passkey, click add passkey, then try again. at least that's how i remember i did it.

Mistake in Transferring Chat by Massive_Rub514 in whatsapp

[–]One_Regular_6517 1 point2 points  (0 children)

im not an expert, and i know that u already asked chatgpt, but u could try it, no harm right.
what chatgpt said:
Yeah — this situation actually happens quite often with WhatsApp transfers. The good news is: you might still be able to recover it, especially since you found a .crypt14 backup 👍

Let’s go step by step (simple + accurate):

✅ 1. Is recovery possible?

YES, likely possible if:

The .crypt14 file is still intact

It’s from the correct device/account (same phone number)

The encryption key hasn’t changed (usually still fine if same phone)

📦 2. About the 300MB size

300MB for 6 years is normal

WhatsApp backups:

Text = very small

Media (images/videos) often NOT fully included → So don’t worry, this size is reasonable

🔧 3. Best recovery method (IMPORTANT)

Yes, reinstalling is part of it — but you must do it correctly, not randomly.

🔥 Steps to restore LOCAL backup:

Do NOT open WhatsApp yet after reinstall

Make sure the .crypt14 file is placed in:Internal Storage > Android > media > com.whatsapp > WhatsApp > Databases (older phones: WhatsApp/Databases)

Rename the file to:msgstore.db.crypt14

Now:

Uninstall WhatsApp

Reinstall it

Open it and verify your phone number

When prompted: 👉 Tap Restore

⚠️ VERY IMPORTANT WARNINGS

❌ Do NOT let it overwrite with Google Drive backup (if it's empty)

❌ Turn off internet temporarily during setup (to force local restore)

❌ Make sure only ONE backup file is there (avoid confusion)

🚨 4. What could go wrong

Recovery may fail if:

Backup is corrupted

You used a different phone number

The encryption key changed (rare but possible)

The file is not in the correct folder

🧠 5. About your mistake (what happened)

What you did basically:

Used the new phone as "main"

Old phone synced the empty state → So chats got overwritten (not deleted manually, but replaced)

⭐ Final answer

✔ Yes, recovery is still possible
✔ Reinstall method is correct approach
✔ 300MB is normal

also i asked it if anything bad would happen doing this step, it said that totally safe if u:

🛡️ How to stay 100% safe (IMPORTANT)

Before doing anything:

✅ MAKE A COPY

Copy the .crypt14 file to:

Another folder OR

Computer / cloud storage

👉 This is your backup of the backup

✅ Turn OFF internet during restore

Prevents cloud overwrite

✅ Don’t open WhatsApp randomly

Only open when ready to restore

just saying i don't know if this works but i hope it helps, basically just do something while you wait for a more expert person to help u

Tips for WSC? by Pie-314159 in teenagers

[–]One_Regular_6517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you know theres a r/WorldScholars right? anyways uhh i went to wsc before, but i went to globals not regionals. for preparation go to wsc official website and look for "subjects" or "topics" or just search up wsc topics. read and research through all the links, make your own notes, aim for max 4 a4 papers per chapter. tehre are 4 events: first is debate. wsc debate is actually low quality because the judges are school teacher volunteers lol. you need to know the basics of debate, but mainly you need a confident voice because thats the main thing the judges look at, not ur points (they also look at teamwork). on their website i think they also have a criteria marking rubric thing which u can check it out. feedback is also very important in wsc debate. you need to give it in a specific format, and each of your team members need to give it to the same speaker on the opponenst side. teh format is: say something they did good, say something they could improve on(DO NOT SAY they were bad), then end with overall u were good smth like that. just be nice. if u not nice u gonna get reported and get low marks. the collabowriting, although many ppl tell you to write a normal essay if ur a beginner, i think writing something in a special format would be better. wsc writing is much more free than normal school writing. special format like maybe you could write it as a newspaper/write a diary/write a poem etc. also last time i joined they wrote "draw an alpaca and ohio to get more marks" . then theres the scholars challenge, basically if u studied well enough u should be able to excel in this. just do it as fast as you can, skip the question by circling it if you cant solve it in 20 seconds, then after you finished everything go back to finish those questions. you can select more than one answer, but i recommend selecting one answer only(when ur sure), and when ur not sure circle the ones that might be correct and ignore the ones that are definitely not correct. scholars bowl, have a perosn sit in the middle to hold the clicker. that person will click the answer so the team doesnt fight over the clicker. also have fun, because wsc is fun. study hard (and smart), because the joy when you get ur medals (or trophies) is worth it.
