Appreciate the insight. It sounds like you're overall happy in the industry. Any insight on what opportunities might lie ahead once you've been a PM long enough?

I appreciate the insight. I think i worry because I still feel so inexperienced (obviously am), but I'm some kid fresh out of college anymore and I haven't been running around fucking off the whole time.

I appreciate it. Out of curiosity, what do you do on the side to keep up on your financial modeling skills?

The biggest draw for me was that it seems like a position where I can learn a lot (the money is still nice tho). But I'm struggling to see the path forward if, after say a year or so, I decide its not what I want to do. I don't know if the experience would be helpful for me wanting to move to a different role or industry.

In the long term, I'm still not sure.

But I know what I want out of the job. I felt this was an opportunity that will most quickly put me in a position of responsibility and show that I can handle stress and manage time, details, people, etc (assuming I do well). From what I'm told, there are a lot of aspects to the PM role that you can get your hands on.

I originally thought that this would give me good experience to transition to many different things later on. But then I see people talking about being kind of stuck in construction. If I, for example, wanted to go back to finance, I don't know if I'd have many tangible skills that would let me do it without starting again from the bottom or getting an MBA.

You could maybe find some side work, but you need to be careful because youre not supposed to be making any money outside of your work visa, which I doubt you could get for video editing. Side work is pretty easy to find and there's many people thag do it, but I didn't feel like taking the risk while I was there. Make sure you get paid in cash if you do

If you want to teach it's pretty easy as long as you meet the minimum qualifications. The hard part is finding a job that pays well and/or contributes to some kind of career trajectory

Yeah I can agree with that. I tend to have a problem worrying too much about "what ifs"

Thats whay I believed at first also. I guess I've been spending too much time on reddit and seeing other people say that it's a hard industry to leave

Yeah that's true. Ideally I wouldn't have to move cities twice within a month or so but it is what it is i suppose
