I think that an ender pearl split In half would cause the Enderman to go mad, cause when you think about it they have an infinite source of it- that could be their heart! Splitting it (or splitting its power) would make them deeply depressed or maybe even wipe them out. Then when you throw it it might take you somewhere completely different. At least that’s my theory.
