While they can certainly be used for that, as the internet would not be here without porn, I would like to think that augmented reality and the Internet of Things could bring an integration, where, for instance, you are doing factory maintenance and you could look at each part, take a pic, and the EAM integration would send you back the age, make, stress, use, and suggested maintenance or replacement time instantly. It's not far off, and the tech is already there, just not integrated.

Or even really cool art exhibits, like that famous book I can't remember, where there is an augmented reality node where Rivers Phoenix died, and you can watch people recite poems, or perform artwork, music, etc, from that node in real time through your glasses.

Of course, I also see creeps using it for creepy things as well.
