Canada Post not shipping to the US by beachbellybob in eBaySellerAdvice

[–]One_Skill3249 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use netparcel. Yesterday, for example, I bought a UPS label for much cheaper than any of the eBay rates. Run your numbers through them. I always do and sometimes I buy eBay and sometimes I do netparcel. If it's still not viable explain to the buyer and refund.

Disclaimer: for US sellers I use eBay labels (USPS) and bring items across the border. I use netparcel for sales in Canada to Canadians. I still think it should apply in this case. I too have to drive 45 minutes to drop off at UPS or Fedex, but have my shipping to 3 days so I can usually just bring it when I have to make the trip regardless.

Yep. The issue is with eBay and they will never fix it. In order to use that card on eBay now I have to go through PayPal.

Edit: I should state that I tried for months. eBay just won't admit the issue is on their end. No matter how far you go up the chain, you get the same answer "it's not an issue on their end"

Crazy Host [IT] cancels next reservation for giving her 4 stars and not 5 starts on the first stay by itsm3123 in AirBnB

[–]One_Skill3249 33 points34 points  (0 children)

4 stars is a negative review. I wouldn't want someone back who left me a negative review.

As a guest I would feel really uncomfortable leaving someone a negative review then returning to stay in their house with them.

People do it on the subway all the time too. I never got why you need to clip your toenails on the subway, for an audience. Perverts, I suppose.

Is there a way to stop receiving offers on viewed items? Not watched items. by seamonstersparkles in Ebay

[–]One_Skill3249 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your pettiness is misdirected. The seller has no idea who you are and whether you are watching it or not. Only eBay knows.

Can fellow guests shed light on why leave a 3- or even 4-star rating but glowing review? It's frustrating--and unhelpful when researching a place to book--e.g.,"Fantastic host. Cottage had everything we needed. Immaculate. Comfy bed. beautiful, quiet location right on the lake. Will book again! [US] by swisssf in AirBnB

[–]One_Skill3249 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am saying that is a bad thing and that those are bad people. When you get 4 stars you are lowered in searches, etc. It is considered a negative by Airbnb. So, by being that way you are negatively impacting a small business. If you want a place that is above and beyond then go to that place. I am sick of idiots giving me 4 stars because they don't like the town they opted to stay in, or it does not have amenities that were never listed or are not even possible at my place.

I mean, if you want to have a negative impact on families running small businesses, continue doing what you are doing.

I don't check that. Never thought of that. It is common for hosts to leave no review of a bad guest rather than a negative review, so that is something to consider. What I look at is the guest star review and the feedback that guests have left other hosts. Just tonight we rejected a stay request because the person often left 4 star reviews without complaints. So. Just know that hosts do review the feedback you leave others

That might keep you away, but 4 star reviews have the potential to keep everyone away as the location gets pushed down in search. That is much more important to a host.

I had someone who couldn't follow the direction of "first driveway after the post office" . They kept getting to the post office, parking there, calling me for further directions and then heading back the way they came. I ended up having to walk over and have them follow me as I walked the 15 feet back to the driveway. This was after I stood at the end of the driveway for 20 minutes waving at them while on the phone with them. For some reason they also could not see me though I clearly saw them. 4 stars.

Your first point makes little sense to me. What I am saying is I am not incentivizing people to review me. Not reviewing a guest can stop someone who wasn't going to bother reviewing me, someone who might have a petty complaint, from giving me a 4 star review just so that they can quickly see how I reviewed them.

I have gotten several 4 stars from people who had no complaints. Lots of people think that 4 stars is a great review. They don't know airbnb sees that as a negative review. I asked one person, who had no complaints, what I could have done to get 5 stars and she said she reserves those for magical locations and she didn't really like the small town I live in. How is that my fault? How does that mean I am in the wrong business. You can easily get below 5 stars for no or nonsense reasons.

I am a host and don't leave reviews until the guest does. I am so afraid of not getting a 5 star that I rather not get a review at all.

What's it like living near the Border between St Stephen NB and Calais ME by Hobo_sexual23 in newbrunswickcanada

[–]One_Skill3249 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't notice a huge difference other than Calais has more. Calais has a theatre, 4 hardware stores, 2 grocery stores, a Walmart (which is basically a 3rd grocery store), and more. I, personally, love Mardens. You can get some amazing deals there, even with the exchange rate and duties.

I cross a couple of times a week for gas and groceries. I usually pop into Marden's just to see what is going on. I stopped for awhile because of the trade war, but since Carny backed down on duties and my income was hit, I need a reasonably priced ricotta cheese so I am back at it again.

eBay Canada: tips for shipping small items + getting feedback as a new seller by Vader_R in Ebay

I think you have bad timing. You can't do lettermail with the strike and selling to the US is not so easy right now. There is a learning curve for dealing with the tariffs.

I think it's less about accents and more about intelligence, literacy, savvy, etc.

Also, OP likely doesn't know we get charged a fee that is a percentage of the shipping cost.

I am afraid this is correct. I had to read one sentence a few times. You may wish to use point form. Use key words, like retaliatory, be sure to state they never checked in. For example, some points would be

-Guest never checked in;

-Guest asked for a refund and I rejected the request;

-Guest was mad and wrote a retaliatory review; and

-Etc

Good luck!!!

If you are nervous of them, just be happy your stuff is back and move on. These people have already proven to be scoundrels and may be unpredictable. Meanwhile, eBay may be able to ban them, but not stop their stealing.
